So yesterday we were at the zoo and a lady remarked how my son had grown so much since she had seen him last. She then asked how tall he was. My dd6 immediately answered "He's BTMRR but not quite Mulholland Madness":rotfl2: :rotfl2:

She looked so shocked and confused. I said Oh, that's our Disney height math he's about 41 inches with shoes!!! :lmao:

I'm sure she thought we were nuts.

We have had lines marked on our doors at 40 inches and 42 inches that have the words written next to them "Disney with Shoes". That way we knew if he would make the "big boy" rides next time we went.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

DH and I were just measuring our kids for our next trip to see which rides they had grown into, we're trying to keep this trip a secret, but I think they're on to us.

Snort. That's so funny! We have height lines on our wall, but not in the "oh, you were this tall at two. Isn't that cute?" But more in the "Here's how tall you have to be to ride Indy, and HERE'S how tall you have to be to ride Screamin'". I thought we were the only ones who measured our kids' heights that way. Tee hee

We tell DD4 that as soon as she grows one more inch we can go back to DL. It sure gets her to finish those vegetables!!:thumbsup2

We have a DL height chart on the wall too. "One more inch and we're going to Disneyland!!":cool1:

:rotfl2: I just measured my son this morning! I also use it to get him to eat all his food (he's a bad eater). He's right on 40 inches (with shoes) so I'm hoping he'll measure up at DL for the 40 inch rides, he really wants to go on the Jumpin Jellyfish ride at DCA.

Is it best to use the measuring stations and get the wrist band? Will he still be measured at each individual ride? I dont' want to wait in lines and then be told he's not tall enough.

Of course!!! Unfortunately my kiddies are tiny, so I only have the 35", 40" and 42" marked so far on my wall. DD finally passed 42" - so eventually I will have to add that next mark!!! (and when family comes over, they think I am psycho)

They don't use a wrist band system at DL. He will be measured at each ride, and sometimes twice (at the beginning of the que, and prior to loading the ride).

I didn't realise they didn't use the wristbands, I thought they had them last time I was there (which was 2002 so it was a while ago!). I'll have to find some extra tall shoes :rolleyes1

Exactly!!! My DS is ALMOST 40", but I am not cutting his hair before so I can put some hard spikes with gel if necessary, and we will be going shoe shopping the week before for the tallest shoes I can find!!!

Just so you know, they will flatten his spikes. I saw many parents trying to pass their kids through with spiked hair. Never worked, the CM will flatten the hair down with their hands and remove hats as necessary. My best advice is tall shoes with double socks. I did see a lot of kids in Heeleys too, and they are really tall. ;)

If you find some really tall shoes, let me know the brand so I can get some for my DS too :thumbsup2

I do it all the time!! I know she's atleast Indiana Jones (46") but not quite Screamin (48")!!! Tell people that I gauge my child's height by DL standards and they just laugh!! Actually it's funny that you post this now because I just told someone at the mall that last Thursday!!

BTW my dd is TERRIFIED of Grizzly she says it has too many dark caves. :confused3

I'm telling you, peer pressure again just like Matterhorn! She is not gonna watch Lauren go with you and just stand there, right? No way!!

This thread is funny. . .at 4 years old my son was 46" tall when barefoot and could ride nearly everything. I remember carrying him in my arms at 3 yo to ride Star Tours. They made me put him down to measure him and then they all laughed. . .his chin was at the line. At 14 years old now he is 6'2". He got all his height from his dads family. No one in my family is taller than 5'8"
