Do you make yourself sick about getting sick?

How sad is it that I'm so stressed out about someone getting sick of hurt before our trip that my face is breaking out?

We had dinner at the in-laws house last night and my SIL (while she was holding my toddler) tells me that she has shingles. I wanted to just snatch my little one out of her arms and chastise her for even breathing in my family's direction! The worst thing about it is that our trip isn't even for another 6 weeks.

Is anyone else as neurotic about this as I am? I typically won't even schedule vacations prior to 2 weeks in advance because I'm such a loon.

I become very sick if I get sick! Sometimes end up in the ER. so...of course I start feeling sick if there is anything approaching that I don't want to feel sick for! :crazy2:
Happens before and sometimes during trips, holidays etc. Actually, just thinking about it I am feeling a little..... well you know

so there are others like me?? well maybe not exactly like me but with some of the same weird traits!! :rotfl:

If it makes you feel better, your baby won't get chicken pox from your SIL breathing on her. BUT ... she might get it from your SIL's rash if your baby hasn't had the chicken pox vaccine yet. Perhaps your SIL wasn't aware of that.

I don't work myself up too much, but I do try to take care of myself a little better a couple of weeks before we leave. I drink immunity boosting tea and I start to take Airborne to help me fight something off.

It's not just you! I have been zicaming and vitamin Cing everyone! We leave in a few hours and my dd woke up with a sore throat, she has no idea we are going so when we pick her up from school she will be very surprised. And then it will make sense why I was bothering her so this morning asking her about every little symptom at least 10 times!

A cold I can deal with, with it's puking I fear!

please- my girls are both sick this week w/stomach viruses and i am just glad they're getting it now and not in a few weeks when we leave. yes i have been worried sick about them getting sick there..about the shingles comment-we have a neighbor who likes to say hello to our girls by kissing them on the mouth..shes elderly so i dont really think she thinks its inappropriate cuz she does the same w/her grandkids but it grosses me out and i swear a couple of days later my girls both started vomiting..go figure! im afraid im gonna have to be rude next time cuz i do not want her screwing up our vacation! :scared:

I would have to punch SIL for holding my toddler when she has Shingles. Is she out of her mind? Yes I worry about getting sick before a trip. I told DD everyday to use hand sanitizer and wash her hands alot at school before we went to Disney. I wouldn't want someone who is ill holding my child even if I wasn't going on vacation. Try not to stress too much.

DD1 has had the vaccine, but I'm still nervous because DD6 had the vaccine and still contracted chicken pox over Christmas when she was 3. It was a very mild case, but it still kept us away from the rest of the family. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that if she gets it, it will only ruin Thanksgiving and not Christmas...I don't think the incubation period is that long.

I'm with you on this one! Walking around DisneyWorld with a cold would be miserable (that happened to me on my last cruise) but when I have that vomit-causing stomach bug, I am down for the count! I get seriously freaked out with worry before each trip, wondering if myself or the kids will be stuck in the hotel room for days making trips to the bathroom! Glad I'm not the only weird one. :teeth:

Gotta Get To Disney! :moped:

Count me in! I am so freaked out about DD4 getting sick that my DH is taking the week off BEFORE vacation starts so Athena can stay home with him and not be subjected to the many germs at pre-school! I told him he needs to come up with alot of crafts and movies because I don't want them leaving the house!
