Do you make your children say....

Its getting to be that time of year. When you take your children out on Halloween night do you make them say "Trick or Treat"?

If she wants candy then she will have to say "Trick or Treat"... and if she wants to keep the candy she will say "Thank You... Happy Halloween"

Robin, my kids do that too. Luckily I don't have to remind them anymore.

They do say "Trick or Treat" and they know they had better say "Thank-you" too.

Absolutely! Tick or Treat and Thank You. It would seem pretty rude for him to walk up to a door and just stand there expecting candy to be handed to him. If someone did that to me, I'd stand there waiting until they said trick or treat. If they don't say it, I guess they really don't want anything.

Yep Yep Yep!! Especially the "Thank You" part...... I make my kids say thank you to the Carnies that run the rides at the fair- most of them look SHOCKED when my children thank them.... it's kind of sad.

It seem more and more kids are just going up to the door, with out saying anything. My kids have always had to say Trick or Treat and thank you. I am glad to hear other parents insist on their kids doing this too.

Well, she's only 4 so last year she didn't quite have the hang of it yet so every door we went to I had to whisper in her ear "Say Trick or Treat" and then after she got the candy I had to whisper again "Say Thank You" But last year she REALLY got the hang of it and every time we come home she walks up to our front door, rings the door bell and when I get the door unlocked and opened she says "Trick or Treat" so I don't think we'll have trouble with it this year

Well then I hope that any child that has a speech problem or is deaf better not go to your house.

If my child was deaf or has a speech problem I would teach them to sign "trick or treat" and thank you. Disability is not an excuse for rudeness.

Trick or Treat is part of the deal. You don't say it, you don't get candy(except for the little bitty kids who stand in stunned silence).

Kids should learn to say Thanks too. It isn't difficult.

The people are so surprised at my children's manners they tend to get extra candy. That's a great incentive.
