Pizza?

The world's first pizzeria, Antica Pizzeria Port Alba in Naples, Italy opened in 1830 and is still in business. The modern Pizza was created by Naples baker Raffael Esposito. In 1889 he created a pizza for King Umberto and the queen, topping the pizza with red tomatoes, white cheese and green basil to depict the Italian flag. He named it in honour of Queen Margherita - who also became the first person to have ordered a take-away (take-out) pizza.

Today, more than 5 billion pizzas are sold annually.

Pizza is closing in on the hamburger as the world's second most popular fast food. About 5,5 billion hamburgers are sold annually.

I LOVE pizza! I spent a semester in Italy when I was in college, and we used to go this awesome pizza stand almost everyday for lunch--you bought it by the pound! They'd have this big slab of pizza and you'd show them how big you'd like them to cut it, then they'd weigh it and charge you by the ounce. I got very, very large in Italy.

Yep, love pizza. We have it about once every two weeks. Lately, just the topping for me, but when at my goal, will be able to enjoy a bit now and then. Chicago has some wonderful pizza joints.

We all love pizza. It's one of the few foods that DH, DD and I all like. I always have a box of Mystic pizzas from Costco (very yummy BTW) in the freezer when I don't want to cook.

Used to LOVE it topped w/ shrimp when I was growing up. Can't find it out here (East coast).

I waitress part time at an AWESOME pizza place, I have worked there for about 5 years and I am no where near tired of pizza.... The nice part about working in a pizza pplace is you can experiment with all kinds of toppings....YUM I eat pizza at least twice a week.

Dan You should come visit!!!! You would love it... Great Atmosphere.
We have customers from other states and when they come in they order like 15 pizzas par cooked and they take them home and put them in the freezer to last till the next time they're back in town.

LOVE pizza!!! Every Friday night here is pizza night! Tonight ds has a school thing ("dinner theater") and they are serving pizza! We might be going to Italy in June (it's a contest at dh's work and he should win it) and I can't wait to try out the real thing!!
