Do you like your small SUV?

I love my Honda CR-V. Big enough for my son's car seat and plenty of trunk space plus mine has a second shelf/cargo cover that is great to hold lighter things in the truck. Plus is awesome in the snow (AWD). I just got it in July and have enjoyed driving it. Even my husband loves it. He is 6'2" and he can sit comfortably in the front or back.

I love our CR-V as well, had it for six years now. Would buy another in a heartbeat!

DH has a 2002 CRV that we love. It's done several major road trips and is just perfect for us. We're contemplating another one when it's time to replace my 99 Camry. (Which we also love, but the versitility/storage in the back of the CRV is so much better.)

I love my Hyundai Tucson - it is just the right size and has everything that we need. I was wanting to get a Honda CRV because my parents have one but actually love my Tucson more. It feels more solid than the CRV and handles great in adverse weather conditions.

I actually bought my Tucson from the Honda dealer and they told me the Tucson is an excellent SUV and is great for safety too. I am so happy that I have my Tucson - we needed more space because my son plays hockey.

I love the heated seats and the fact that you can open the back hatch or just the window part - makes things much easier.

I don't think you can go wrong with a Honda product. The Tucson is less expensive than the CRV but a totally awesome SUV. Good luck on your decision.

I have a 2000 CR-V and love it! If I was in the market for another car I would go and get another CR-V. I plan on running this one into the ground so car shopping is hopefully years away!

We tested out 3-5 year old Subarus, Toyotas and Hyundais. We went with a 4 year old Mitsubishi Outlander-it was close between the Hyundai Tucson or the Outlander. We did not find Subarus roomy enough. We have several friends with Toyota Highlanders and they've had lots of maintenance problems. Our Outlander is great in the snow- getting about 20 mpg in suburban traffic and it's kind of cool as I see very few on the road and people have stopped to ask about it.

We had a mini van and an Explorer...In August I traded the mini van for a Hyundai Tucson and I loved it...we are a family of 5 so it was fine for around town but vacations we would take the Explorer. Then in Nov. my dh explorer's engine blew up..so we had to get something that would be comfortable for travel but not real big and not a mini van...so we got the Chrysler Pacifica with the touring package I this car...not to little and not tooo big PERFECT!!! Can't wait to take it to WDW In April.

I recently got the 2011 Kia Sorrento and love it.

We did, too! We literally looked at EVERY model of vehicle in about that size. Our top two choices were the Highlander and Sorento. I love the Sorento so far!!

May be getting time for a new (to me) car. I LOVE my Ford Escape, but I just wonder what else we should be looking at.

Nope, I have a Ford Escape and hate it with a passion. Automatic everything nearly causes accidents and the amount of money I've put into "routine maintenance" in now 74000 miles is higher than I've ever put into the previous 5 Japanese cars combined in nearly 500,000 miles.

Wish we would have bought a used Toyota or Honda rather than the new Ford. Would have cost much less in maintenance and headaches.

I have a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid and have never had a spot of trouble with it. I have close to 83,000 miles on it and other than the standard stuff, I haven't had to do anything. I don't understand the "automatic everything nearly causes accidents" comment.

If something were to happen to my Escape (car accident, tree falling on it, etc.) i would buy another instantly, I wouldn't think twice.

Another vote for the CR-V! I just spent many months researching and driving crossovers and small SUVs. The CRV and the Toyota RAV4 were the finalists, and January 3rd I bought a 2011 CR-V. It's only been 500 miles, but I'm in love! This vehicle replaced a Toyota Sienna van, and I was just over the whole minivan scene. I have two kids, so we didn't need all of the extra seating. The extra storage only filled up with garbage and junk, and something seemed to be breaking on it every week. The CR-V is getting great gas mileage, and is just FUN to drive! My first car was a Honda, and my husband drives an Element. Look around and drive to find what just feels right for you.

Add me to the "happy with my CR-V" list. I've had mine since 2007 and haven't done anything besides routine maintenance to it. It goes great in the snow, is great on road trips, and holds lots of stuff. I would buy another one without a second thought.

I LOVE my Escape too! I've had very little trouble with it; I've replaced the breaks and most recently did the "service D" maintenance; I have just over 70000 miles, and it's a 2004.
I really liked the look of the freestyles when they were out, and I believe they became the taurus X, and now I think they don't make them anymore. I liked that they had the split in the seat more like a traditional old school station wagon.
I also have a few friends with CRVs who love them (but they're the kind of people who refuse to buy American cars LOL). I also like the small caddy they have inside test track, and if money were no object and I was going to spend it on a car instead of more DVC points, that's what I'd get! And actually, speaking of test track, they had a Buick small SUV that was nice too, but of course I didn't drive it....
We had a Jeep Patriot as a rental the vacation before last, and we were NOT crazy about how it drove, it had a weird gear thing...but the size was nice.

What is "standard" to you? Perhaps your standard is different to mine because I've had Japanese cars for the past 16 years other than this Ford.

Standard to me is replace brake pads about every 50k miles and, well, I've only replaced rotors on one Nissan at 165k (my lowest mileage car in the past.) The Ford failed inspection at 36k miles and needed all 4 rotors replaced (not turned, replaced. They were so thin I could not have had them turned.) That is not normal. At that rate, going by the worst I've had with Japanese cars, I would have had to replace rotors 5 time to every once on the Nissan. The 4 Toyota 4x4s I've had previous with a combined 493,000 miles I have never had to replace rotors.

I bought it brand new and haven't passed a state inspection yet. This past year it was 2 control arms and an axle. That is not normal with less than 75k miles.

As for the all automatic causing accidents, I have no control over anything. FWD that senses slip and transfers to the rear wheels. Stupidest thing I've ever heard of. If it senses slip, it's too late. Your tires have already slipped as opposed to the operator looking at road conditions in the winter and putting it in 4WD before the vehicle even moves. I've had the front tires spin while pulling out from a side road, slide out into the opposing lane, then the rear wheels kick in putting the car sideways. Works real well this automatic stuff.

Another CRV lover. We have a 2004 Honda CRV that we bought brand new and I still love it!! Handles GREAT in the snow! We've never had any problems with it either and we are up to almost 100,000 miles on it.

I have been driving my Hyundai Santa Fe since 2002. It's the longest I've ever kept a car. I usually get itchy to drive something new, but I still have no complaints with it. I would even consider getting another one when it goes. But for now, it's still under warranty and I can't see getting rid of it. It still looks nice and drives nicely. Nothing wrong with it. The only expense besides maintenance we've incurred in 9 years is replacing brakes once and replacing the tires once. I guess those things are really maintenance too. We did have an issue with noisy acceleration a couple of years ago, but we took it in and they fixed it under warranty. Never had any other problems.

At the time I bought it I was looking at the CR-V and Escape too. I went with the Santa Fe because it had more extras for the less money. I got a decked out Santa Fe (leather, heated seats...) for the same price the CR-V was at base. Also the warranty was pretty persuasive!

We've been driving the same 2002 Ford Escape for 9 years now and still love it. We've never had any major repairs, only what I consider basic stuff like tires and breaks. I live in Northern Michigan so that thing has been down the expressway, over the river, and through the woods. I'd buy another in the future, though I'd go with a hybrid. My only complaint is that space got a bit tight in the back seat when we had our 3rd child.

I love my Toyota Rav4. It has a large trunk area, it's comfy for my dh who is 6'3" and the gas mileage is good. I drive a ton for work and wanted a 4wd, the 4 cylinder model had the best gas mileage of all of the cars I compared. Good luck deciding!
