May be getting time for a new (to me) car. I LOVE my Ford Escape, but I just wonder what else we should be looking at.

Nope, I have a Ford Escape and hate it with a passion. Automatic everything nearly causes accidents and the amount of money I've put into "routine maintenance" in now 74000 miles is higher than I've ever put into the previous 5 Japanese cars combined in nearly 500,000 miles.

Wish we would have bought a used Toyota or Honda rather than the new Ford. Would have cost much less in maintenance and headaches.

I love my Honda CR-V. Big enough for my son's car seat and plenty of trunk space plus mine has a second shelf/cargo cover that is great to hold lighter things in the truck. Plus is awesome in the snow (AWD). I just got it in July and have enjoyed driving it. Even my husband loves it. He is 6'2" and he can sit comfortably in the front or back.

DD19 has a Lincoln MKX and it is an awesome car! It's like the Ford Edge but with lots of bells and whistles. :)

I have a Subaru Outback. It's great. I've driven lots of different SUV's over the years from HUGE (HUMMER H2) to an Isuzu Rodeo, Isuzu Trooper and a Cadillac SRX. I do miss the 3rd row from the HUMMER and Cadillac but I was tired of being the "taxi" for the neighborhood kids. Subaru also has great resale value.

We just bought a new Pilot and I was skeptical the whole way. We have always driven large SUVs or large trucks. We have only owned it for 2 days but my DH has said 100 times how much he wishes we would have bought a smaller SUV years ago. It's roomier on the inside than it looks on the outside. And it has 3rd row seating.
We got a great price on ours and incentive financing so I am happy with the price/payments.

We love Toyota Rav4. It is good for kids. And, if you have 3rd row seats, it becomes a 7 seater. :yay:

Used to have a CR-V (Honda) and loved it. Have considered another one when hubby gets rid of his truck.

I've had an Escape for nearly 2 years now and I have been very happy with it!!

We went from a minivan to a Pilot. The salesman asured us that a Pilot (our model year at least) was built on the same base as the Odyssey. After 2 weeks of having it I hated it. (I still have it 17 months later but that is out of cheapness).

I don't like is there is no room in the 3rd row for adults and buckling car seats doesn't work there either. This lack of room wouldn't be as much of an insult to bear (I don't have to sit back there just the teenagers LOL) BUT there is absolutely NO cargo room either. I swear I have 18 inches in the cargo area if that. (my minivan which had a 3rd row had at least 2 1/2 feet in the cargo area).

As far as driving it - it is fine. For a family of 5 it would be great (only 1 person in the 3rd row. But for a family of 6 not so much. Even DH who was a minivan hater - is considering going back to a minivan for our next car.

I love love love my crv!! Plenty of room, great in the snow and comfortable. We also have the pilot, my huby drives that one. It's great as well it is just on the bigger side but has tons of room. Good luck! I vote for Honda

We love our 2002 Saturn VUE. It runs like the day we bought it! But it is no longer in production.

I am still driving the 2000 Honda CRV that we bought in 2001. It has been a great car. I plan on buying another one when we need one.

we have a Chevy Equinox, which is a little bigger than the ones you all are mentioning. it is a lot smaller than our Ford Explorer (with third row) though. i love it! it gets great gas mileage!

Hey, that's the same as us! We bought ours used from a mechanic who was moving and had to sell his cars to buy just 1. I love my CRV. We are planning on buying a new car next fall but I told my husband that until I find one that I love as much as my CR-V, I'm not buying a new one. The CR-V has had 1 mechanic issue in 10+ years. The car is great!

Gave my 1999 CR-V to my son--200,00-+ miles and still going strong. Would have bought another one, but didn't care for the new styling. Settled for an Equinox with all the bells and whistles--remote start, heated seats, etc. I enjoy it, but I do miss my CR-V. At least it's still in the family! My son carts around kids in booster seats. I only cart around my dog!

I love my Honda CRV as well. I went from a van to this and at first the size was strange...but love it now, more room in the garage and plenty of storage in the back. You just can't haul as many kids (many not a bad thing!) we only have one child so it's perfect. I haven't missed all the repair costs on my Windstar at all!

I love my CR-V as well. There is plenty of room in the front and back seat and I love the way the back seats will fold down flat if you need extra cargo room. It drives smoothly too, doesn't feel heavy like the bigger SUVs.

I have a highlander and don't like it. We downsized to a smaller suv when the gas and economy statrdgoing down hill. I do NOT like it and want a ford expedition (used) to teplace it. I am not worried about the depenavility of the highland it is the space I lost that gets me. It has a 3rd fow seat but it is ueseless, no one over the sixe of an 8 year old can sit there. Give me bavk my big car@
