I am looking for my first HDTV and like the way the Samsung looks. However I have read something about problems with the power capacitor. So I thought I would ask my fellow DISers about this.

Has anyone had a problem with this or other problems that would make you say you would never buy a Samsung? Do you love your Samsung?

Thanks,
Kim

I love mine; I got it in 2007 and it has been flawless ever since. My parents are on their second Samsung HD TV. There was nothing wrong with the first; my dad just decided he wanted a bigger one. He gave the smaller one to my brother, who still owns and uses it.

Samsung and Sony are consistently rated by experts as the two best brands of HDTVs, these days. Third place (LG) doesn't even come close. I would feel very comfortable buying another Samsung.

It also depends on the particular model. I also have been researching 32" Samsungs. One model I was going to get was extremely prone to sound problems from all the complaints I found on it.

What I would do is if you are interested in a particular model. Just put the model number into google and see what comes up.

We have 2 samsungs. For dh and I we have I think a 32 inch, for the ds they have about a 40? inch. We got the tvs last black friday and last month their power capacitor broke., Thanks heavens it was under warranty. We took it to the shop to have it repaired. They could have came to the house but I said no. It took 3 days to fix it and then later I even had a samsung lady call to ask me customer satisfaction survey questions. One of the qustions was, would you recommend this product to someone else, I said I dont know because my ds read on the internet that this tv has capacitor problems etc. She didnt even comment to me after that statement.Wow, but so far so good now,. The problem lasted with the tv going in and out for 3 days and then it just died, having a 17,19 and 21 ds with no tv is not good around here, lol.

I call them samsuck. We bought a 47" and after 1 1/2 years of owning it, it broke. Turned off on us, and never turned back on, you could hear sound, but that it. We bought the insurance for it, so we got another one last year without cost, now this samsuck, turns off and back on up to 4 times a day! We really should call them up again, and try and get it fixed. I will never buy any samsuck product again.

We have two, one since May 2007 and one for the last year and half. Love them both and have not had any problems.

In just under a year of ownership, we've had absolutely no problems with our Samsung 40" ToC (Series 650). It's' the *best* TV I've ever owned! :thumbsup2

We bought one of the first 40" Samsung 1080i about 4 years ago. It has been the best tv. We did have to have it serviced as we broke one of the HDMI ports from the main board (courtesy of a really stiff HDMI cable DH bought). We always get the extended service plans so it was covered. Also purchased a 25" samsung monitor/HDTV for the upstairs.

We have a 42 inch plasma that we bought this summer and I keep telling my wife "I love this TV!!!"

So weird that I saw this thread. I was listening to the radio this morning when I took DD to school (normally daddy takes her) and the morning guy was talking about his 2 year old Samsung TV. He was having problems with it making a clicking noise when it turns on and taking forever to turn on. It finally quit turning on. (Sound familiar minnieandmickeymouse?) He googled "Samsung Television Clicking" and got pages of hits. Apprarently it's a problem with some 40 cent capacitor that was put into the televisions. You can either a) take the tv apart and replace the capacitor with one from radio shack, b) buy a new power board used on ebay and replace that for about $150, or c) buy a new television. BTW, the guy's father has a Samsung and is having the same problem.
The funny part was that he researches everything and actually talked the co-host into buying a Samsung. So, that guy was not too happy!
Might be something to check into before buying, or, if you buy, make sure you get the extended warranty so that this would be covered.

We have a 52 inch Samsung LCD 1080p and LOVE it! We got it a year ago and it has given us no problems. DF likes it for his PS3 and I like it for blu-ray movies - everything looks great. It's really impressive, my parents visited us last Christmas and said it put their LG to shame.

It's still going strong! :thumbsup2

I have 3 Samsungs and they have been flawless. The oldest is a 61" LCD that is almost 2 years old and sees lots of use. The others are a 50" plasma and a 22" LCD for the kitchen.

I love the 52" Samsung LCD that I bought a few months ago. It's 1080p, 240 hz. I have no complaints at all, and I'm actually intending to get another(slightly smaller) one for my computer room sometime in the next month or two.

We have a 42" and love, love love it. No problems at all.

Our 23" Toshiba on the other hand the on/off button recessed and won't come out after just a year. It still works with the remote, but it'll be toast if we loose the remote.

We have a Samsung 42" plasma in the living room and love it, no complaints.

In the kitchen we have a Samsung 22" LCD. Great pic. The only complaint is that it seems to turn on slow. You hit the power button and it takes about 7 seconds for the pic to show:confused3. Other than that, no complaints about it!
