Another DCL cutback. Definitely the Dove is a poor substitute for the Ghirardelli chocolate but that doesn't surprise me with all the other things they have taken away.

I'm personally not a fan of Ghiradelli, but I love Dove (dark chocolate though). The ones I don't like are the pirate coins. I have some sitting in a bowl on the counter from our cruise in September and it was a Norway cruise so we didn't have a pirate night. We still got the nasty pirate coin chocolates though.

Ghirardelli is overrated chocolate, in my opinion. Dove isn't much better. The ingredients are nearly identical in the two, but I give a slight edge to the way Dove tastes for some reason. Both have filler crap in them and are pretty low quality. Yes, I still would eat both if they are in front of me. :)

Thanks for pointing that out. Any “chocolate” where sugar is the main ingredient is average at best.

This has already been mentioned in this thread, other cruise lines are very good when providing chocolates for turndown. Too bad Disney doesn't feel there is a need for “competition” there.

It was much better when we started cruising in the early 2000s when they used the Ghiradelli brand.

We are fans of dark chocolate so we save the Dove's milk chocolate candies and share with family and friends.

I do like them...I mean, they are chocolate after all, but we don't usually eat them on the cruise. With so much food and we usually get back to the room stuffed, I just put them all aside and bring them home. I appreciate them much more when vacation is over and Im craving something sweet.

I love Ghiradelli chocolate, but like the Dove too. Y'all are such chocolate snobs lol (just kidding!) :goodvibes
That being said, there's so much food on the cruise, we usually don't eat it. I started putting it all in a ziplock bag and find a group of kids at night roaming around and hand it to them to share. They always love that!

I don’t want any food left in my room. First, I don’t want my kids seeing candy right before bed. Second, one of my kids has severe food allergies - I don’t want to deal with figuring out if it’s something she can eat and then have some kids begging for it and one not being able to partake. If I want chocolate I can buy it.

I always ate the Choco when we cruised DCL and it's the same on our current line of choice especially since many left are 70% Dark.

I like them fine, but as other have mentioned, I just don't want them when I've had so much other good food. I typically put mine in a small pile and eventually they disappear (DH eats them). Once in a while we have a few at the end that we end up eating on the way home.

I'm sure if you tell your stateroom host this they will be happy to accommodate you.

I’ve always viewed them as a sweet touch (pun intended) more than judged them on their taste. But i also haven’t met a chocolate I didn’t like.
