Do you like Old Key West?

My DVC homes are BWV amd WLV and I love Old Key West. We spend a week to ten days there every October.

You can't beat the size of the rooms.

OKW has been our home resort since joining DVC in 1994 and we love it! We have also stayed at BCV, and Swan which we also loved, but did not care for BWV. OKW is very laid back, colorful and the largest accomodations for any DVC. I love the friendliness and the overall feel of the colorful resort. It makes us slow down a bit. I enjoy the boat to DTD, although I have not used the new one that goes to SSR also. We are returning to OKW for christmas this year(spent last 2 xmas weeks at BCV and Swan) and look forward to it. (especially like parking your car right infront of the villa)

We absolutely love OKW. The atomosphere, location, room sizes, pools, transportation, etc....etc....etc...

We spent a week there last year in a 2 bedroom and it is the reason we joined DVC - absolutely, completely loved it!

Rooms are huge, service is excellent...you park right in front of your room. The atmosphere is just wonderful. Laid back and relaxed, yet still unquestionably Disney.

After staying at the Swan last November and then moving to OKW for our last few nights, I was kind of disappointed. If we had just stayed at OKW, I think it would have been fine, but I really loved the Swan (DH was there for a conference, so his company paid for our hotel).

On the other hand, DH really loved it and wants to stay there again. We will try it again, I'm sure.

The best rooms anywhere on Disney property... OKW is great!

WE LOVE OKW! We've stayed at almost all the disney resorts except the new Animal Kingdom lodge. Even stayed at the Swan and Dolphin which are not Disney Owned by the way. OKW is our favorite by far.

We have stayed EVERYWHERE on-property, and we love OKW. We have even stayed at Swan and Dolphin, and hated it. Of course, I have claustrophobia, and with those long skinny halls, low ceilings, and windows that don't open, I guess that should have been a natural hate relationship. I love OKW exactly because it doesn't have any of those things, no hallways, tall ceilings, airy feeling, and I can walk out my door to where the air is. I panic if i can't get to the fresh air, so I love those balconies! After being a member since 1997, last year I finally bought a contract at OKW, and this year I bought another one. Wa-hoo!

While this is not our favorite resort, we have found that it is probably the best one to stay at when the in-laws travel with us, and we need a 2BR. We have stayed at both OKW and SSR with them, and the OKW rooms are much more comfortable for the group as a result of the larger size. We may change our minds and like it more as a result of the new pool slide. My kids are pool maniacs, and I think almost enjoy time playing in a cool pool more than going to the parks.

We like OKW. When we need large rooms or to conserve points, we are happy to be able to stay there.

Love it. We have stayed at all of the DVC resorts and it is definitely our favorite. The rooms are bigger, it's quiet, it "feels" like Floriday and the rooms are bigger! :sunny:

I own at BWV but alternate stays with OKW. OKW is perfect for our laid back May trip. Having the extra room, the car right out side the door, the view of a pond with lots of ducks & birds is great. BWV is great for our early December "middle of the action" trip. It's great to have choices!

We've stayed at OKW twice.

First trip we stayed in a one bedroom and it was wonderful! So quiet, great location, beautiful view.

Second trip(just this May)- Not such good luck. We had a studio, the first one we were assigned was way in the back(building 50?) by the main road that goes through Disney property and it was sooooo loud. We heard noise all night, busses, brakes, it was terrible. We then asked to be moved, the front desk CM was very rude and down right sarcastic, we asked for another studio in a quiet location. Went out all day and came back to find out we were assigned a room by the maintenance shed where the laundry carts run by, we were so upset. Went back to the desk again and spoke to a lovely CM who sincerly apologized(not even her fault) then moved us to a another room in a different location, third time was a charm.

Our first trip was so great I didn't let this past one ruin it and we still love OKW but would only stay there in a 1 bedroom, never again in a studio. I also wouldn't stay there usless I had a rental car, which we did both times.

We LOVE Old Key West. We spent a week in a studio this past year, and I just finished booking us into a 1BR for 10 nights this coming January -- gotta use those new points! Beautiful, peaceful laid-back atmosphere. DH can play golf and I can sit on that huge balcony and laugh! :teeth:

Love it when we have our car. No car, might not love it as much.

Also loved it much more the time we had a non-smoking room. I almost didn't want to return there after our first stay in a smoking-optional (in my head, OKW=smoky smell), but I'm glad I gave it a second chance.

As an answer, let me tell you what we're in the process of doing. Our home resort was not at OKW, we just bought whatever Disney was selling at the time. But after 1 OKW stay, DH HAD to be an OKW owner. So we're now selling our other points and buying at OKW. As a DVC guide once said, "Those Old Key West People-they're rather.....Fanatical!"
And since OKW has lower dues than elsewhere, DH said we could 175 points and buy 210, so we're getting an add-on in the process. So I guess the answer's a big YES!!!
