Do you like oatmeal?

Love oatmeal...the old fashioned cooked kind.....not the instant. Do not like that.
Thick, hot with Splenda and milk. Sometimes add a banana and love it with berries added in and cooked a bit to make them mushy.

I don't really use a recipe...

The proportions are 4 times as much water as oatmeal. I use steel-cut but it will work fine with any "regular" oatmeal, not quick-cooking. Usually I make 2 cups of oatmeal, 8 cups of water - gives you about 4 servings.

Put the water, oatmeal and "additions" in the crockpot, put on low, and leave for eight hours. I add raisins, diced apple and cinnamon usually, but sometimes we have dried blueberries, dried cherries or other fruits.

You will get a bit of a browned edge around the top in the morning, but I just scrape that into my bowl and eat it too.

Any leftovers are easily reheated in the microwave the next day and still taste good (you might have to add more water at this point).

I like oatmeal, but I go in spurts with eating it. I guess I have to be in the mood for it. I like the brown sugar flavored one best, with small dollop of butter melted on top.

Oh my gosh Teresa... I'm going to have to try that!

I love oatmeal, usually make the plain and add a bit of maple syrup and some milk. Maybe a sprinkle of brown sugar if I'm feeling the need :thumbsup2

I also love it with just one piece of buttered toast. The buttery flavor with the maple/brown sugar flavor... um-yum! :lovestruc

I eat oatmeal - or porridge as I call it, every day. I like it thick and I put milk on it and then sprinkle sunflower seeds (for crunch) and raisins. YUM!!!

I can't stand hot oatmeal but love using it to make muesli. This is our recipe.
2 cups old fashioned oats
1-1/2 cups milk
1-2 teaspoons of orange blossom honey
Mix and cover. Let sit in fridge overnight. IN the morning, stir in some vanilla yogurt, or your choice. Stir in fruit. It is so yummy and good for you.

This sounds interesting.. Think I'll copy it down for my recipe box.. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Not a fan of porridge, but I love oatmeal bread and oatmeal cookies, even the bar kind.

There is a local company here that makes a WONDERFUL plain crispy oatmeal cookie, they are called Dad's Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies. If you're ever in the St. Louis area, you have to try them. No nuts, no fruit, just simple crispy oat goodness. DH brought home a bag last night, handed two to the 2 yo and told her to bring me one -- needless to say I didn't get it; she kept them both for herself!

I love oatmeal!!! It can be instant or slow cooking, I don't care. But it has to be make with milk. That's the only requirement.:goodvibes

Not a big fan of regular but I do like bananas & cream oatmeal!! Yum!

I have fallen in  with Trader Joes Quick Cook (8 Min.) Steel Cut Oatmeal. I really love the texture vs. regular oats. I love to add brown sugar. Yum! :thumbsup2

Love the idea of the regular steel cut oats in the crock pot over night. Great idea. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Not much of a warm oatmeal fan but I do like Trader Joe's Steel Cut oatmeal. I like the texture better.

My favorite cookie is oatmeal. Starbucks used to have wonderful oatmeal cookies

I really can't stand the stuff, flavored or otherwise. I try it every few years just in case but it never tastes any better, lol.
