To take your order?

Or would you rather he or she stay standing?

I waitressed for years, I always stood unless a customer pulled out a chair and offered for me to sit. But I dont mind it at all. I usually like my wait people. DH hates when they keep socializing with us, but I like it. I think it is fun to get to know those people.

But I know people who dont like it.

Just as long as she/he doesn't sit in my lap, I don't care.:p

Sometimes that can be fun:smooth: :smooth:

I have sat in a customers lap before..it makes me laugh.

LOL! YUP! Most of the time the guys left "giddy"..so they had no idea what they were tipping.:p

I've never been in a restaurant where any waitstaff has sat down at the table unless I knew them and they were invited.

Guess it's a regional thing.

I dont mind at all especially if its a noisy place.

We eat at TGIFridays a lot here and have spoken with one of the managers on a regular basis. He always comes over and sits down with us to chat when we come in now. I never really thought it should bother me lol.

I have been to a few bars where if you pay extra they will sit with you

I don't care for it much. I've really only ever had it happen at The Outback. They either sit in the booth with me, or squat down on the floor and pretty much rest their head on the table while they take my order. I find it a little tacky.

I hate when they squat down or sit down. Unless I'm in a themed restaurant where anything can be expected (like 50's Prime Time) - then I'm ready for it.

Otherwise, stand up and take the order. When they squat down I feel like they're treating me like a child.

Maybe that explains Pop daddy's problem

It annoys me as well. I've only ever had this happen at Outback. Usually when we eat out, DH and I sit together in one side of the booth and DD sits on the other side by herself. Now when we go to Outback, she sits with me because she doesn't want to have them sit by her!

Yep, HATE it when they do that! One girl layed her head sideways one time on the table, and took the order, no eye cotact at ALL!

ditto.

I like it. Did you know there are food items available at the Outback that aren't on the menu? We'd been going there for years and never knew that until our wait person sat and talked with us. DH and I are both really enjoy talking with people.....all people.

Take the word "are" out of my last statement and it may make sense! Headlayers? Yuck! That's totally out of the question!
