I do not see how a fast pass system for Resort guests only would work. At least not in the current form. Not all Resort guests have their tickets on the keys to the kingdom card. I have APs so mine are never on that card. What would you put in the machine to obtain your FP the ticket? The KTTK?

We love the fast pass! It was funny cause DD just got back from a trip to Universal with a friend and the first thing she said when she got home was, "mom they don't have fast passes. They only have a fast pass that you buy and is only good for one day!" I think for a teenager to notice that is a pretty big thing.

I would be ok with it being for resort guests only, however as far as getting better times or anything else special because you are staying at a deluxe, I wouldn't like that. What about the families who save for a long time and are only able to afford a value resort? Why should they be treated different because they have lower finances?

Like I said in my first post... LOVE the idea of restricting it to Disney resort guests only, but I'm not sure that I'd take it as far as distributing times depending on resort class.

What about your room key?? They could potentially start making "fastpass cards" for the kiddos in the group whom are too young to be issued their own key.

Personally the system at Universal is the better system, BUT! I still do like Disneys. (Universal does not charge from what I remember)

Fastpass has quite improved our trips. Standing in lines is a thing of the past. I thoroughly enjoy the Fastpass invention. I don't mind waiting a few hours if it means I get to bypass the lines. (I am impatient and can't stand standing around. I also disagree with waiting in line hours for a ride. It's not that important. ;) )

Unfortunately, Universal did away with their free fast pass system. Now you either get FOTL from staying on-site or you have to pay $40-50 a person for one free express pass per ride. We really missed it when we were there last month!

I can't remember how we made it through the parks before the fast pass system.

Last summer I read a biography on Walt Disney. One of the things that I believe he would not have enjoyed is FP being only for on-site guests. FP is a program designed to create a "virtual" que. This allows guests to wander the parks spending money on food, snacks, merchandise, other goodies, etc. instead of being stuck in long lines where opportunities to spend more money are not available.

Do resort guests spend more money in the parks than non-resort guests? I don't know if they do or not, but until it is proven that resort guests spend more money while in the parks, FP should remain open to everyone. :cheer2:

I don't think it's about how much money guests are spending in the PARKS.... rather, guests that stay on site spend that extra $$ to Disney in order to stay on property. All of the money spent on property goes to the same place... the Disney Corporation. Personally, I don't find it fair that people whom are staying many miles offsite, and are visiting WDW for a day trip get the same fastpass privileges that we get while staying at the GF, WL, or POFQ... etc... :confused3 Just my 2cents.
