My Granny was afraid of bridges and my dad ( her SIL) used to tease her by driving out in the middle of one and pretending something was wrong with the car. lol

It may not sound funny but it was a joke between them she was laughing ( once we got back on solid ground that is lol)

DH on the other hand is fascinated by bridges especially relaly tall or had to imagine how they got there bridges lol.

So do you like Bridges?

This is one of our favourites :)

I am not thrilled about driving over bridges. Considering our city is basically divided by the St. Johns river is it pretty hard to avoid a bridge in this city. I drove across the bridge the other day for the first time in a couple of months. I have had nightmares about driving over the bridge going over the hump and the bridge on the other side is not there, and I drop off into the river.

I have to drive across the Ohio River every day, to and from work..
I LOVE bridges, but get a little spooked about being on the lower level of a double decker bridge..after the San Francisco quake..:(

I LOVE the drawbridge in St. Augustine and there was a neat bridge when we were in Niagara Falls where the whole middle section rose up in the air for boats to go under...

Nope. Don't like driving over bridges at all. Unless they're low or have high side walls. I do think they are pretty sometimes, and as long as I'm not the driver, I don't mind going over them.

I hate bridges. I have to cross teh Tennessee River everyday on a very narrow bridge. it use to be a two way bridge but now it is a one way and everyone drives in the middle. I remember before my driving days that they use to have to stop traffic to let trucks cross. Not fun. There was a wreck in the middle of it a couple of weeks ago and I was so glad that I wasn't stuck behind the accident in the middle I think I would have lost it.

I was afraid of bridges when I was a kid but love them now, unless they are very narrow, then they scare the hell out of me.

We have a bridge here in CT that was recently renamed the "pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge" but is called by all who know it the "Q" bridge. It got that name because it goes over the Quinnipiac River in New Haven. This bridge has a very large curve in it and is much higher half way across then at either end so line of sight is very restricted. There are many people in this area who have developed a severe phobia about crossing this bridge due to the many accidents that have occured on it.

Once it even got Katherine Hepburn who was being driven home by her chaufeur [sp]. Her limo was hit by another car and she was stuck on the bridge for quite a while before another car got there to pick her up.

I love bridges! I particularly like them when I can actually see out the window on either side and look at the water. So beautiful! :)

LOL about your dad and granny, binny! ;)

No! I'm much more comfortable crossing them if someone else is driving. I hate the Golden Gate bridge! That one scares me to death! Same with the one in the Chesapeake Bay area! One's too tall and the other is too long!

The only bridges I like are the little causeways (sp?) that connect the islands off the Jersey coast to New Jersey, and the two near me that I can walk across that cross the Delaware.

Ooooh, there's a really narrow, one lane bridge that crosses the Delaware. Often a car coming the other direction will try to cross while you're crossing! If you breathe, and let out your breath, I swear you'll hit each other. I HATE that bridge. One time I was about 2 towns away bugging the people I was with about when the bridge was coming up. I was so freaked out when I crossed it, I didn't even remember crossing it. :teeth: And I was driving! :o :p

I don't like bridges, especially draw bridges! I sometimes have nightmares about them! When I lived in Florida I encountered bridges fairly often. Not too many of them here in Utah thankfully!

I hate them. I don't know what's worse, though, being in the drivers seat or the passengers seat. Both scare the daylights out of me. Fortunately, I don't have to do it very often.

I hate driving over them. When I was young we lived in the Detroit area and my aunt lived in Windsor. We used to cross the Ambassador and it is huge. There are grates in the road that you can see all the way down to the river and I've hated them ever since. Funny, in Austin I have to cross the Colorado every day, fortunately the bridge on I-35 makes it easy to ignore - looks like regular freeway. However the drive to WDW involves this stretch of I-10 near Pensacola that I find I have to concentrate hard to not have a panic attack...

Bridges don't bother me.:) There's an OLD, OLD wooden bridge over at my mom's I don't go over because I'm the only person I know that can find a loose nail in that bridge and puncture my tire. I've punctured about 6-7 tires on that bridge.

I had a friend that was pretty scared of them. He didn't want to come visit me in NY because he knew he had to take a bridge and the thought didn't sound to appealing. I personally can stand them, it's the tunnels that I freak out about.

I hate bridges. Once my mom and I were driving across one to St. Pete and there was a bad traffic jam so we were stuck on it for a half an hour. Every time we'd move a little I'd frantically remind her not to come to a stop on the seams of the bridge. The thought of plunging into the ocean in my car scares the bejesus out of me.

I love Bridges :D
My favorite bridge is the Golden Gate Bridge.... a few years ago while in SF, DH and I rented a convertable and drove across it on beautiful October day.......
