I'm thinking of booking Biergarten for a family lunch (12 people). I haven't eaten here in years, but did enjoy it the last time. If you have eaten here, did you like it? Please tell me all about it. Thanks.

LOVED it!!! It's such a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere. I'm always blown away by the decor. This restaurant is a MUST do everytime we go!

It's another one of those "if you like this type of food" it's a pretty darn nice place to eat. If you don't like German food, not so much.

I didn't care for it. I love all different types of food, but there was nothing great about this place to me.

Biergarten is a must-do for my family. My son (15) even chose this restaurant for his birthday celebration for our upcoming trip. Plenty of different things to choose from. And we enjoy the entertainment as well.

Biergarten is our tradition every trip. Our only must do!

DD is a very plain eater. Not picky, exactly, but very plain. Not sauces, nothing fussy, etc. She has always found plenty to eat and has found out that she likes a few things that she didn't think she would.

DH and DS are both very adventurous eaters and they talk about Biergarten in hushed tones, as though it's some sort of Mecca . :rotfl::rotfl:

We like it. The band playing and the dance floor for the kids to dance on is lots of fun. It is fun, festive, and carefree. I love the decor there. We enjoy the food, too. There wis lots of choices for even picky eaters that don't like German food--roasted chicken, mac-n-cheese, simple potato dishes, etc.

We enjoy it. The beer that comes in glasses the size of pitchers helps.

Like the food and think it would be a particularly good choice for a big group. You will be split between 2 tables since the maximum 1 seats is 8 people, but the whole atmosphere of the restaurant encourages visiting back and forth. Just remind them at the podium that you want to be placed reasonably close together and I am sure they will be happy to oblige you.

oy oy oy the DW never had seen an oompah band before it was great to watch her

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I gave up beer for Lent this year and the only thing getting me through(St. Patty's Day, Final Four, first game of baseball season) is knowing that in October, I get to eat and drink at Biergarten. Lent is over by then isn't it?:rotfl2:

It was OK for us.

Didnt help that dh didn't care for the food much. There was one dish the kids loved and they ate and ate and ate. They pretty much didn't care for anything else.

I liked a couple of the dishes a lot. the rest was just OK.

The dessert though...now those were scrumptious!

As for the band...it was cool. I had hoped for a different atmosphere though. Mayber we were there at the wrong time with the wrong crowd? Maybe 2 little kids went up to dance and there was no way my kids would go near the floor. I thought there would be a lot more encouragement to let loose and go up and dance. But there really wasn't that vibe, kwim?

the band was neat and we enjoyed it. Seemed rather short but I knew the length of their performance going in.

To be honest, I doubt we will go back again. It was just...OK. Not the vibe and excitement that I had pictured. I had wanted to like it a whole lot more so was a bit disappointed. Guess the fact that we don't really drink much didn't help either LOL!

this is dhs favorite restaurant! We just went in March. The food was very good, the desserts were not as good as in the past, but still good!

My kids even like the food!! :) this would be a fun place for a big group. ( even though you will be split up.)

Love the Food and the atmosphere..The communal seating is fun..Since you have 12 people you are going to be split between 2 tables ( each table seats 8)

Thanks for this thread! I'm interested in trying Biergarten for the first time on my next trip.

This was once a family favorite. However, our last trip there was a very bad one. We got seated with a group of people that were drunk before they even got to the table. They showed up with 5 people instead of the 4 they were supposed to have. At the time, our children were fairly small, so we arranged for our DD to sit on the end of the table. Did the other group appreciate it? NO! Their language and manners through the entire meal were bad as well. Plus, they kept drinking even more alcoholic beverages throughout the meal. We probably should have asked to be re-seated.

Also, having been to the Biergarten over many years, the food is not what it once was. There used to be more variety than there is currently. I guess for us it's a matter of comparison that makes the experience a lesser one. The food that we had there was good, but not great. ::MinnieMo

This sums it up. The show is good and youngsters should enjoy it.

It is probably my favorite restaurant at WDW, closely edging out Rose and Crown. I'm a sucker for those faux-outside inside decors (like Mexico) and who doesn't like German serving wenches? Probably not doing it this time though, my group is not nearly as much of a fan :(
