ETA: I am sure we'll have a wonderful time and don't mean to offend anyone!

I was just able to book an one-bedroom unit at Beach Club Villas for next July. I've noticed that there are quite a few negative reviews about the units being run-down and dirty. Do you like BCV?

We're exchanging through RCI. We own at Bonnet Creek and love it, but wanted to give staying on property a try. After reading reviews about terrible bus waits at BCV (this will be our first time not renting a car) and wondering how ME with an 8:14 AM departing flight will go, I'm a little nervous.

We're used to a two bedroom so going to a one will be a big difference for us. It will be DH, me, DD4, and DS who will be turning one on the trip. We will spend time mostly at Epcot and MK.

By the way, I don't know how we couldn't have a great time---I was able to get the week that I turn 30 and DS turns one! :)

Thanks!

You do understand that coming to this board asking that question would be like going to NASCAR Nation and asking "Who here likes watching cars go fast and turn left?"

Its our fave actually. I doubt you will like the room condition and decor as much as BC though. If you were only in a regular hotel room at BC-then you may like the 1BR at BCV better though-kind of an offset of sorts. BCV is just way to high capacity-really reduced time to clean/repair/update when its so full all the time. You will really like the EPCOT walk, and the boat to DHS is easy to time as well-maybe sit on the beach and you will see when the next one is on the way. So you already have 2 parks to get to without the buses. Also you could time some MK trips with EPCOT and the monorail-then its just the AK for a bus (and DTD).

But for MK from BCV and back on the bus-that is not the ideal, but we never have much trouble really, certainly way better than a bus to each and every park every day of your stay.

You've fallen into the "mouse trap"

of internet "reviews" !
:rotfl:

Tens of thousands of owners/guests go to BVC - they have possibly the nicest pool on property - it's fine!

We own at BCV and stayed there in a 2 bedroom at the end of last May. (Our first trip home). :goodvibes There were no issues with our room whatsoever. It was clean and the condition of everything was fine. Were there a few scratches on things here and there? yes. But you're going to see that in any hotel room. It's just normal wear and tear and was nothing major, unpleasant or out of the ordinary. We LOVED our room.

Regarding the buses, I too was expecting the worst after reading threads on here. But I was happily surprised. We rarely had to wait more than 5 or 10 minutes (TOPS) and the buses were not crowded at all. The longest wait we ever had was returning late from AK one evening after a late dinner. All the buses were slow in coming at that point since most park guests had left.

Perhaps we hit it lucky I don't know, but I have nothing but POSITIVE things to tell you regarding our experience at BCV. :) :thumbsup2 I hope you have a wonderful vacation!!! :yay:

Where are you reading "quite a few" negative reviews? Just curious, I don't see many.
I have not stayed at Bonnet Creek, but have heard very good things. I think you might find the BCV rooms a bit more ordinary, for lack of a better word. However, the distinctions are that you will be so close to Epcot, and with two little ones that's a huge advantage. We have two girls, 5 &3. We own at BCV, in large part b/c of the location.
We really like the entire property. It's easy to navigate, and there is plenty to do. Your DD4 will love the pool, and you will probably have a hard time getting her out. There are several great restaurant options within a matter of minutes, from Cape May to the Swan/Dolphin restaurants to all the choices at Boardwalk....or walk into Epcot and eat at some fun restaurants.

The 1 bedroom will be tight if you are used to a 2 bedroom, but you will enjoy the room and it will do the job. In my opinion, the other conveniences make up for it.
As far as transportation, the buses are what they are. You will wait a few times, but often it's not more than a few minutes. Not having to be putting kids in and out of car seats is a wonderful tradeoff, as is not having to park at the TTC and lug all that stuff to the monorail. Getting dropped off at the "door" is very nice.
ME will be available to you for the departure, but they generally have you leaving a good 3 hours prior. If you are not ok with a 5ish a.m. pickup, they can arrange for you to get a van or taxi from the hotel. We did this last November b/c of an early departing flight. I called the concierge the day before, and they had a car waiting. It was not cheap, but that's an option.

I think you will have a great vacation.

Brian-you are hilarious.

Yes I knew what to expect! Ironically I was never a Nascar fan (and now it's all I watch for "me" time). We watched Cars and I fell in love with the movie, started researching the characters, and then fell in love with Nascar! My husband kids me all the time that it's the left, left, left, left show. ROFL!

I just wanted to hear some good experiences or know if we'd be better off waiting for a different DVC.

For what it's worth, we are simple people who live out in the country in a small three bedroom home. We tore the top off of our house one weekend and built a new one on top of it to get those extra two bedrooms.I'm a teacher, DH is full time Air National Guard, and we farm. We're not high-class by any means. I've just been seeing a lot of negative reviews.

I thought DD would love SAB.

I thought there was a restriction on trading into DVC if you owned in Orlando with RCI.

I own Wyndham points and they could be points from any resort in the Wyndham portfolio so it's not in the 30 mile restriction.

All DVC rooms at every resort tend to show wear before they are rehabbed to keep the dues low, some rooms more than others.

The Disney buses are shared with the other resorts in the Boardwalk area so depending on the time of year, they can be full and you may have a longer wait.

BCV isn't known for it's great views but you will have access to the best pool on property.

DME pickup at 5:00 AM and your flight is probably too early for RAC so you will need to carry your luggage on the bus.

BCV has a very nice theme and amenities, close to Epcot and DHS, and the other Boardwalk resorts. I'm sure that you will have a wonderful stay.

Thanks so much. There have been some on Tripadvisor and on RCI. I'm hoping that they are just the type of people that cannot be pleased and would complain just to complain. Of course, I think you have a little different mindset if you pay rack rate compared to an exchange or discount.

One more question (for now). I have seen conflicting info about shipping items down to the resort. If I ship via Amazon Prime, will there be a problem or a charge?

I really do not mean to offend anyone. There are certain Wyndham properties that I would choose over others. I was just looking for more insight. Thank you!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:Thank you so much! It sounds like you had a fantastic trip. I'm grateful for the good report; thanks for taking the time to type it. Hopefully it's just a case of a few people writing bad reviews and the ones who have had great stays haven't felt the need to go and report it. Thanks again! I'm sure we'll have a wonderful stay.

I also read Trip Advisor with some degree of "skeptical" For example just last week I saw a review on a resort I am going to (and have been to) It said the "pool was small" and "there was no beach bar" Hmm... well the pool may be small compared to some but compared to just about any pool at Disney for example it's a good size. ANd the beach bar... Well the poor reviewer didn't look at his map and/or walk 10 feet on the beach because "there it is" LOL! Of course he had ALL kinds of other issues.....:confused3

There are some basic 'rules' I live by when screening the reviews (and I have not read the Beach Club reviews so these may or may not apply)

1. Any review of a hotel that rants and raves about the airline and or other travel providers should be ignored. They are probably letting the bad air experience influence thier review.

2. Any review that starts "It was my Birthday/Anniversary/Honeyoom/etc.. and while we didn't expect an upgrade one would have been nice" should be ignored. Sure they didn't "expect" one, that's why the mentioned the failure! LOL! And then when they didn't get it.......well they were out to prove the resort bad!

3. Any review that is basically an attempt to gain compenstation should be ignored. Yes, folks there are some scammers who are telling resorts "IF you don't give me something for free I will trash talk you" They tend to "out themselves" in the review or often the management responds and "outs" them!

4. Any reivew that shows a TOTAL lack of preperation is questionable.... I always remember the folks in line in front of me at check in... they were giving the CM heck because "we paid for an ocean view" Hmm... they were at Disney's Beach Club resort, but as the poor CM kept telling them "it's a little far to see the ocean" :rotfl:

I own at BLT and love the modern, sleek, contemporary decor. It's just our style. But last year my kids wanted to stay at BCV and enjoy Stormalong Bay, and quite frankly, I knew the proximity to Epcot & DHS, as well as the other hotels would make it a great location. But I was very nervous about the villa itself. I was pleasantly surprised. We had a top floor villa facing Epcot, right off the elevator. The 1BR will be more than spacious enough for your family of 4, and the fairly recent "soft" rehab left everything looking refreshed. It is a more "old-fashioned" decor, but I loved it. It didn't feel dated or dingy like I worried. Bus service was so-so, but you really only need it for AK and DtD (or possibly the waterparks.) You can walk to Epcot, take the boat to DHS, and walk thru Epcot to catch the monorail to MK. Honestly, bus service is hit or miss at any resort; I've yet to stay anywhere when the bus service was 100% perfect, or when we didn't have an occasional long wait. So don't let that deter you. In the heat of July, I bet your kids will love Stormalong Bay and the beachy area where they can play in the sand. We also really enjoyed just walking right out the the Villas pool, which is a very nice size with a hot tub. If I were you, I'd stick with BCV and not try for something else - and this is coming from someone who didn't think she's like it at all.

:hug::hug:Thank you. This post is exactly what I needed. :)

Most if not all the reviews on Trip Advisor are going to be from people paying cash.

That said, I don't think any DVC resort villa is worth what Disney charges and definitely do not think a studio at any DVC resort is worth it over a regular room.

So if most of the reviews are for studios and they are comparing them to a the Beach Club resort rooms I could see where they would be disappointed.

Disney is always going to rehab resort rooms sooner than DVC does and the BC resort rooms are really nice and comfy beds with nice linens.

We love BCV. Of course, I don't think the rooms are as nice as AKV kidani or BLT, but those resorts are newer so it's not a fair comparison. BCV was just refurbished recently if I'm not mistaken, it definitley doesn't appear run down to me, I was just there in August. Pool and lobby are great too.
