Do you let your kids carry things into the parks?

I've never been so lucky in my life to have a pack mule, lol. When I was a kid, if I wanted to bring something, I carried it. And it only took me losing it once to realize I need to keep up with my stuff. I think I was about 7 or 8 years old then. (And not that the OP's daughters aren't, but) having to do that made me fairly responsible and after that first time, I never lost something else again!

Cross-body bags are great to keep stuff in for the parks, as well as those drawstring backpacks. Have fun on your trip!!

Last year, I went alone with my 2 DDs for a week. They were 7 and 8. I bought them each a messenger bag and told them that they had to carry their own autograph books, ponchos, etc. It was working out fine until one day when we sat down to stake out spots for a parade at DHS. A few minutes later we decided to catch a bus back to the resort for pool time instead of parade time. I hadn't realized that DD-8 had taken her bag off, and it was left in the park. We realized it after the bus left the parking lot.

So we caught a bus back, tried to call guest services to see if anyone had turned it in (no one had), and we ran back to the spot where we were earlier (the parade had just ended), and thankfully it was there. After that incident, I decided that it would be better if I just carried everyone's gear for the remainder of the trip. needless to say, our "extra" pool time that day was spent retrieving the lost bag.

Dd carried her own small messenger bag in the parks during her 7th birthday trip.

We are going in August and I picked up Disney messenger bags for both kids (dd10 & ds5). I got a regular one for dd and a small one for ds.

Neither child will carry anything expensive (>$10) other than dd and her camera. Basically just autograph books, pens, bottle of water, small fan, etc.

I fully expect that dd will carry hers every day, all day...but I'm okay if ds decides it is too much for him and then I'll carry his stuff (or dd might? :confused3).

I'll definitely keep everyone's KTTW card... we just use them, no cash.

Yes. My kids carry their own stuff.

With my DD11 I insist that she use a cross body bag. She has one she loves that she found at Target and wears it all day. She likes it so much she has never forgotten it anywhere.

My DS has always worn cargo shorts so it's easy for him to not lose anything.
