Do you let the cast member know about your celebration when you make an ADR?

So, we are celebrating our 10th anniversary and my daughter's birthday next month at WDW. Our anniversary celebration is at CG and on my daughter's birthday we are eating at CP and Hoop Dee Doo. Is it in bad taste to call and have them put a note on the res that we are celebrating? I don't expect anything fancy, and I don't know if this is something you all do when you make your ADRs, but it seemed like it couldn't hurt. Opinions/input? Thanks!

For a dining ADRs, you can't do much of anything for requests until you actually arrive for your reservation.

What I have done in the past is when you arrive for your dining reservation at the check in area, let them know that it is a special occasion. We did this for my wife's birthday, and they gave us several different cake options. One being a small plain chocolate or vanilla cake that pretty much lets everybody have a small piece. Another was a large decorated cake with her name written on it saying "Happy Birthday".
The host or hostess at the front will let you know exactly what you can do and the different choices.
Of course, you will have to pay extra for this service, but the memories are worth it!

You can call and have special occasions noted on your dining reservations, but once you arrive at the restaurant let the castmembers know.

Be sure to wear your anniversary and birthday buttons and you will be guaranteed plenty of good wishes from castmembers. Beyond that, your special milestone might be acknowledged at restaurants or it could be totally ignored by the CMs. We've had cupcakes and other desserts, confetti, cards, champagne at different restaurants while at others there has been no acknowledgement at all. With at least half the guests in DW celebrating a special milestone it is not possible to recognize everyone so it is best not to expect anything and enjoy any extra pixie dust that is sprinkled upon you.

If you want to be certain of a celebration you can arrange and pay for something special. Most TS restaurant have a podium cake available for purchase. For a more elaborate cake check out the Cake thread:
