Do You Know Your Iq Score?

hmmm.... fun test but ... it's not an IQ test!

an IQ test is supposed to evaluate "innate abilities" rather than learned knowledge (for ex, all those obscure questions about the olympics and mars missions... as well as most of the math questions and analogies, most of which would be impossible to answer without a certain educational background). Of course, the whole idea of evaluating innate abilities is b.s., but it does seem pretty weird that this particular "IQ" test only considers you "intelligent" if you know the difference between an isoceles and scalene triangle or the third nation to undertake a mars mission!

Scuse me ... going to bone up on my obscure trivia so I can get "smart"

According the test from the link it's 117, which I guess isn't too bad considering I didn't know 3/4 of the answers :rotfl2:

I received 107 but most of them I was like "Hmmmmm...that looks right". :rotfl2: That's what I get for taking this at 2 a.m. I don't really take these things seriously though as other have stated these online tests are not the "real" IQ test. But they're still fun! (And lord knows how many answers I would have to guess on a real IQ test ;) ).

I TOOK THIS TEST ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO...AND SCORED THE SAME THING TONIGHT!

WOW I am Smart & Good looking! :rotfl2:

...Yet I can't figure out how this double posted? :confused3

I did learning disability testing when I first got into college and got at 179... that was two years ago though ^^; I poked my tester into telling me after taking her on as a councilor after the testing was done... yay for making friends with the grad student!

I know one of the 1%. He tested over 180 on the standard test at age 5 or 6. Last I knew they were waiting until he was older to give him a more in depth IQ test that is given to those with extremely high scores. When he was 7 he was doing 9th grade algebra. The child is extremely bright and challenging (apparently emotional problems are very common in the highly gifted). I've lost contact with his mom, but I often wonder how he is fairing. I think he would be around 12 now. When he was younger his mom was homeschooling him because the schools really didn't know what to do with him. Eventually it became too stressful and she put him back in PS. I know they applied for a scholarship though a program that places gifted students in private school that will work with their unique needs.

Cool. I knew a 160, my cousin. I know a few 140+'s.

My %'s may not be dead on accurate, but in that range.

I just thuoght it was funny that all these incredible scores were right here in this thread! It is hard an dexpensive to take a Stanford now a days. They don't offer them in school like they used to when I was younger, at least not here in CA. You can get them privately administered. You can also take a Mensa home test and be invited to take the real test through them. But I don't know if theirs is Stanford. I think it's called STanford - something now.

Fun anyway...

I've taken the tests at that high IQ society and was invited to join as well... but I figured I'd be paying for nothing. I can't remember my score though. Maybe I'll take it again once I get home from work.

The most accurate IQ tests are administered to children. There are so many other "life" factors to consider when you get older. That is why most TRUE IQ tests are administered around 5-7 years old. And TRUE IQ tests do not test on trivia or things like that. They test the way you think and process information.

This test sounds fun though, so I will try it.

As the daughter of a well-recognized Child shrink, I was subjected to more IQ tests during my childhood than one could possibly imagine :teeth:

One has to remember, that an IQ score is only a measure of potential, not success. Many of the IQ elite go on to fail in their life, while many in the 'average' range go on to become huge successes and vice versa. There is way more in achieving success in life than just your IQ score.

In fact, you can no longer classify a person as mentally ******** based on IQ score alone. The DSM now also requires an asessment of adaptive functioning before labeling someone ********. However, adaptive functioning assessment is not currently required for labelling the other side of the bell curve, the geniuses. But many in the psychological world think adding this criteria would yield a more accurate assessment.

The online IQ tests are just games. They cannot accurately score nor predict your actual IQ. That has to be done by a standardized IQ test, done by a licensed professional.

Of all the tests out there- the Stanford-Binet and the Wechsler Adult and Children Scales are the two that are most used by private psychologists and many school psychologists.

Just for the record, my mother will test a 5 year old, but will always say that the results are not an accurate indicator of intelligence because a 5 year old is just too young. Between 7 and 15 are the best years to test, at least according to her set of colleagues.

As for IQ - normal is set at 100 with a standard deviation of 15 or 16 depending if you are using the Stanford-Binet or the Wechsler. Most of the population has an IQ between 85 and 115, which is considered "average" intelligence.

Less than 2% of the population has an IQ more than 128 and less than .1% of the population has an IQ above 140. And less than .01% has a genius IQ of over 160
0.

On online tests, I always, always score over 160. But in real life, that my IQ is high but NOT, I repeat NOT, THAT HIGH~DD13's IQ is over that, though, as tested by well-known child psyc. when she was 7.

IQ tests require training and interpretation to score. Also, online the verbal component is missing along with the hands-on.

I missed the CNN thing. Many members of my family are geniuses. Seriously. Most of them are quite eccentric, not very mainstreamed, but content. Others are getting free rides to pre-med, and most recently medical school WITH a living stipend. Another hasn't paid a dime for his education and is currently in Europe finishing up his PhD. Yet another spent a decade in the military after being unable to complete 4 yrs of university, and is just now getting a Bachelors Degree (on the military's dime) successfully. Before, he lacked self-discipline and work ethic.

Academically, geniuses can be all across the board based on work ethic, drive, interests, and learning disabilities.

Are we all taking the same online test? It was supposed to be just for fun, but for bragging rights or anything like that.
According to the test site, the score chart looks like this:

anything below 85 is consider low-intelligence
between 85 to 100 is average
between 100 and 115 is above average
between 115 and 130 is high intelligence
from 130 to 145, you're superior intelligence
lastly 145 to 160(max score) you're gifted!!!
I don't see anything over 160 here, PEOPLE???
Are we missing something here? As far as children IQ test, there is another online test site which has a child-version for (age 5-17). My 14 yr-old took one, he said it was plain too stupidly easy.

I tested at 136 during middle school 30 years ago. I remember because "140" was considered "genius" and I kept saying "I'm 4 points from a genius!" My dad told me to stop saying that - people don't want to hear that". I'm afraid to take this test because I don't want to hear the results :confused3 Even though I did fairly well in school, now, sometimes I can't even spell :guilty:

I have tried another IQ test online. www.iqtest.com

The way this site scores was so much different than the High IQ Society site. I topped at 143 at this new site. So I guess if I want to feel smarter, then I would go to this site from now on..... :rotfl2:

In elementary school, I was tested and scored 147, and was immediately placed in the gifted and talented program. I suppose it was to "broaden my mind", but all me and the other geniuses did all day was play games on the Apple 2c (this was in the '80s).

I was tested at age 13 and scored a 141....The IQ quiz in the OP's post showed my score as 160.

I find that hilarious because there have been plenty of days since I've had my kids that I feel dumber than a box a rocks :rotfl:

As some have pointed out, that site is only for "fun". Can you imagine anyone ever wanting to really claim that he/she is "a member of the High IQ Society :snooty:." That name sounds like something from a comedy sketch.

I took it, but it just pulled up the original first screen after I did it. I never got a score :confused3. That's okay, though. I think I'm pretty logical and knowledgeable (is that how you spell that word? :rotfl2: ), but I guessed or got bored on most of those image questions. Is there someplace to see the right answers?
