which hotel chain is it that guarantees your stay? I can't remember...of course I mean moderate (cheap) hotels...

I don't remember the specific chain either, but what I do remember is that their guarantee wasn't very remarkable -- it was nothing different from what any other chain does or would do (or at least would claim to do).

Holiday in has an ad out right now but I have never stayed at a hotel that will not refund you if you had a bad stay. We had a plumbing adventure at a La Quinta and they comped our room w/o us even asking and we had a bad neighbor at a Holiday inn last year, also had a night taken off our bill w/o really asking (we did mention it at check out).

I am pretty sure Hampton Inn has a 100% money back guarantee. I have to say, they are our favorite moderately priced chain. We have stayed at Hampton Inns in at least 6 or 7 different states, and they are always clean, and usually have nice pools. They also have a very nice free breakfast every morning.

They are owned by Hilton by the way. If you have a Hilton Honors card, the points really add up.
