Do you know your County?

Counties do not have any meaning in Connecticut. Because we are such a small state and there are no unincorporated areas (the State is completely divided up into towns or cities), we did away with the county level of government. Condsidering our state is the size of some western counties anyway, it does not make sense to have another layer of government.

True!!! But when Geoff Fox says there's a tornado warning in Litchfield County, I know where he's talking about!

My state only has 5 counties. I know my county name (it's also part of my town name- hard to forget). We don't use counties at all really - you go to the state capital for jury duty. Our weather alerts are done by town.

I'm so glad we don't have to learn all the counties in our state. We have 254! And yes, I know which one I live in and most of the ones near me.

Louisiana has parishes not counties.

You would think that would be a simple thing. But where I recently moved to, I still have doubts about the county! Some towns/cities have a different name for the county. Some towns/cities have a county by the same name. :faint: I think I'm in one of those with the same name. No one seems to be able to tell me for certain, so I don't feel too bad right now.
