Do you know someone who has to be the "center" of attention all the time?

My DD age 21 is also like this. It is really interesting right now as we are in the middle of planning her wedding. She is CONSTANTLY saying...."it is MY DAY, SO I GET TO HAVE IT THE WAY I WANT". We went bridesmaid dress shopping this weekend with 4 bridesmaids and her....OMG! She tried blaming her older sister for being "THE PROBLEM" and not being flexible. HA! She just can't see when she is the one causing the problems. She can be so sweet sometimes (as long as she is in control). She has been this way since she was born. She loved to boss her older sister and two older brothers around. She has a saint for a fiance! He knows when to say something to her and most of the time he just lets everything go in one ear and out the other. My dh's sisters are all exactly the same way so I guess I am used to it! It makes life interesting.

MY SIL is like this, to the point of it really being a psychaitric problem.

When DH and I were getting married, she had elective knee surgery a month before our wedding(she was a bridesmaid) and then asked if she could be in our wedding in a wheelchair, as she didn't think she'd be up to walking by then. My other SIL told her that if she showed up for our wedding in a wheelchair, that she's push her down the hill in front of the reception hall. She showed up on crutches instead, and I have video of her dancing the polka at my reception!

Her next thing was when she was pregnant. She was an older mom, and after she had her 1st child, a healthy boy, the doc told her he didn't recommend she get pregnant again. Of course, since her sister had more than one child, she had to have a 2nd child, against medical advice, ended up needing a c-section, got a wound infection, supposedly has inner ear damage from an antibiotic needed to treat the wound infection so she can't work (how convenient!), can't drive etc. Of course, she sends us video last year of her and her sons playing at the beach where she is spinning around in a full 360 degree turn to throw the boys into the water! Balance problem????? I don't know many folks with inner ear damage resulting in balance problems who can spin in a 360 degree circle without falling down!

Most recently we were planning a 25th anniversary party for my other SIL. Of course, this one is coming in from out of town, so we have to listen to yap for 3 months about how she wants to come in the Wednesday before the Saturday surprise party. We told her no because if she came in on Wednesday, her sister would figure out something was up, and the surprise would be ruined. Well, this kept up (again, all about what's convenient for her!) until I finally said "Look, you add nothing to my life. If you ruin this surprise that we have worked so hard on, I will write you off like you never existed." Finally shut her up. The day of the party, moments after she arrived, she started criticizing something about the way we had set up the party(mind you, she hadn't done a thing toward the party...no financial assist, no physical assist...dizzy you know, so she can't lift...)but she felt she had the right to criticize! I think not. My DH told her that if she said one more word he'd hold her head underwater in the pool till she stopped breathing!!! That shut her up.

I could write a novel about this one...she is truly pathological in her behavior. When she comes to town, she stays with my other SIL...I have made it clear that she is not welcome in my home...and my other SIL has determined that she is a paranoid schizophrenic. Whenever anyone is talking, in her mind, if you're not talking to her, you're talking about her. Hello??!! Don't flatter yourself! She is a small-minded, bitter, nasty person...pathetic really in some of her behaviors. It's good that she lives 1500 miles away.Unfortunately she is raising her children to be just like her.

My Mom was one. Granted, she had many Medical problems but she often ended up in the hospital on holidays and during special events. I can't tell you the number of Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays we spent in the ER or the CCU. It got to the point that I dreaded holidays because I was just waiting for things to get out of hand and all plans to go out the window. If she wasn't in the hospital she was very self-centered and melodramatic at home too.

Disney Doll, I think you have me beat!

Yes, a co worker friend of mine. Just had a meeting with her last night and it's so hard to get things accomplished when she's just constantly talking and bringing attention to herself.:earseek:
