Do you know someone who has to be the "center" of attention all the time?

I have two people like that in my life, one is a sister-in-law, the other is a co-worker, who I had the pleasure of working all weekend with.

There isn't anything they haven't done, and if something has happened to you, you can best believe something worse has happened to her!

They speak loudly over everyone in a crowd of people. Don't dare try expressing your opinion, because she'll cut right in and plow right over you with hers, even if she's stated it already ten times over!

Do you have anyone like that around you?

A few of my relatives fit that description.

Sure do, and she is very annoying...I just want to say sometimes, "you know, its not always just about you"....:(

I have a sister in law like that... she is very controlling and manipulative. It is hard to deal with.

I just try to not be around her much...but you know how it is with family...you have to be around them sometimes..can not get out of it.

She also likes to gossip a lot and so when she starts that...I leave the room...

LOL - I think there are a few of them here on the DIS...

Oh yes, and it's VERY annoying. I have a really hard time putting up with people who are self-centered...so I avoid them if I can. What's worse is that they never seem to realize how self-centered they are, even when you tell them flat-out! H-E-L-L-O?????? I can't stand people like that!!

Yes! My annoying co-worker . . .she is the preverbial Murphy's Law . . .

I stopped speaking with her weeks ago and that really irritates her to no end . . .she told our Office Manager "I don't know how much longer I can take it being ignored" :o

The DIS has endured its fair share......::yes::

Yup. He will just sit there and wag his little stumpy tail, and sometimes, if he isn't getting all the attention, he barks, or worse, whines. Then he jumps on you and licks your face. Ewwww! If he's not the center of attention, he gets so fussy. Then he starts getting into stuff he shouldn't. That's always a bad sign... And if he wants a cookie and he doesn't get one...look out!

Bad Monty Dog! No biscuits!

Yep...My coworker...
I have posted about her before. She is the one who wears short skirts and I get panty shots all day long. I have to be very careful about looking over. I try to look above the desk at all times. Dont worry, If you want a color of the day, shoot me a PM with your email address. Ill include you on the list. :teeth: I dont think she does it on purpose, but others think she does.
She is very dramatic and over the top. She can top any story and also has an answer for everything. When we have an office group picture taken, she usually tries to be on the front row, center and pushes her chest out...

To date she is:
The only woman to every get pregnant.
The only woman to have a premee baby.
The only person that can do her job (i cover for her sometimes)
The only person to every have bought a house
Never wrong
The best driver
The expert at everything...

I do like her but can only tolerate so much. Sometimes Im just ready to wring her neck...

LOL Nebsky! I don't have to worry about short skirts at work, as we all wear scrubs!

One of our kids is like this:( !

Her stories are always more important, more dramatic, and everything she does is LOUDER; talking, laughing, etc... like she wants to make sure everyone knows she's in the room. She gets jealous when something good happens to someone other than her.

This is a big concern for DW and me, but we try to correct gently because I have to believe that a big reason for this behavior in a child is insecurity or lack of self esteem. It is really tough trying to meet her needs without taking away from the other three kids!

Yes my MIL, read my post..... The center of attention, it is all about her! Drives me nut's:rolleyes:

My husband's assistant has got to be the center of attention at all times. No matter what kind of fnction we are at, social, work etc, she has some serious illness going on.

OMG!! Could we possibly be sharing a child? Mine is now 28 and sure does feel like she is the center of the universe. Gets all bent out of shape if people don't do things her way. Of course her way is always the right way. And of course she's not being critical. It's just that she feels the need to point out to folks where they've gone wrong or the right way to do something. You know...constructive criticism!!! Man, I wish I could get her to see how she comes across. Always worrying about what others think of her. We went into Boston a year or two ago to see TSO. I wasn't exactly sure which track our t-train was on, so horror of horrors, I asked. She was mortified. Said she was embarrassed to be seen with me, that I looked like a tourist. All this said in a very loud voice and then much stomping off so as to not be with me anymore. Can you imagine? She really does feel that she is the center of everyone's attention.

Just poppng in to make sure you all were talking about me. :p :p
