Do you know if they keep "areas" of the hotels kid-free?

Obviously there isn't an adults-only resort on site, nor is there a building of a resort just for adults. But do you think they make an effort for adults who are traveling w/out kids to stay in a quieter area of a resort? It might be a nice effort for people who are traveling on their honeymoons and other adults.

Before you go to town on the flames, obviously adults who travel to WDW shouldl know that kids and families will be everywhere (except for V & A's!), it's part of the experience. I'm just wondering if they do this, it would be nice for adults to have a quiet hallway so they can sleep in, etc.

It would also be a nice thing for families to have adults-only guests in their own area b/c they might come home later and be noisy.

Just some thoughts. :upsidedow

I have never heard of anything like that, nor do I think Disney would be foolish enough to do so, since their bread and butter is in the family business. Now that being said, I am sure they make every effort to accomodate a "quiet location" request.

I have heard some pretty noisy adults in hotels. It isn't always the children.

Absolutely. Ask me why I am more than bleary eyed today. It wasn't toddlers who came back to their room next to me at 3am, indulged in some adult beverages, and then had some early morning 'recreation' before retiring! ;)

I don't need an adult building, I just wish they would let us specifically book king beds at deluxe resorts.

Its absolutely rediculus to pay $300-400 a night and not get a king bed guaranteed. Our trip is already booked for the end of this month, but next time I think we'll be looking elsewhere.

I know Disney's bread and butter is families, but dollar for dollar we as an adult couple spend as much or more money on our disney vacation that the average family of 4. Face it, extra children cost very little in the grand scheme of things at Disney World. Deluxe rooms can sleep 5 for the same price, and the tickets and meals are greatly reduced for young kids.

We pay the same rate for a room. We are less of a burden on the transportation system and parks/rides. We eat at signature restaurants. We buy their overpriced bottles of wine. We pay extra to go to pleasure island and cirque. We book tours and extra activities that families rarely show up for because of age limits and other priorities.

I think the GF and BWI may be the only resort that offers something like this, but it will cost you. The GF has 8 or 9 honeymoon rooms in a private are on the 2nd floor of the main building. There are no other rooms around them and they are guaranteed king beds. At the BWI, they have the garden suites, which are all in the same area and more private.

Regardless of which hotel we're visiting, if it's just my husband and myself, we usually ask for high floor, corner room. From our experience, these end up being pretty quiet rooms.

We like to have a King size bed. (my child likes sleeping on the coach) So are you saying I should not be given a King size bed because a family has children? I think you can request to be placed in a quieter place in the resort. I been to Disney over 20 times (with and without my child) and always had my request granted.) Even if it takes a little longer for them to get the room ready.

If you have children over the age of 3 you will not be able to get a king bed room.

Just would like to comment by saying its "Walt Disney World"...where children go to live out their fantasies and adults go to be kids again. That why Walt started it in the first place. If it was something different it wouldn't be Walt Disney World....(How did I do Safetymom):woohoo:

We are an adult only group and in all the times I have been to WDW (staying in a different hotel each time) I have never experienced noisy children that I could hear from my room. Am I just lucky?

This sounds like something out of Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang.

But of course Cinderellas castle is modeled off of the Neuscaunstein Castle that was featured in the movie.

Stay at the Grand Floridian or the Yacht Club- the closest thing WDW has to "Old Folks Homes"!

Just DH and I also and we found the YC, Swan and Dolphin to be pretty quiet and relaxing, not that kids bother us but I know what you mean about staying in a quiet part of the resort.

Lower your standards. Stay at a Moderate resort. For an additional $15 (or so) charge per night, a king bed is a bookable category.

We have tried to get a king bed on every trip and we've only got one twice, so it is very possible that you won't get one and it does depend on the season of course.
Now, I think that if you are on your honeymoon, they make sure you get one.
I have been with and without children and I totally understand what the op is talking about. Sometimes you just want to go and be in love or have some time to yourself in a relaxing, calm environment. Yes, it's Disney, but they do have resorts set up more for this than themepark going. My suggestion is to go deluxe. Usually, you don't see as many kids in the deluxe resorts. And things just seem quieter there. Now, I have found that the resorts around the boardwalk seem to be more noisy than others because of all the traffic, but I have noticed others that say they're quiet, so I guess it probably depends on when you go.

Yeah, you are lucky. I just got back from VWL, and the family next to our room had a kid who cried a lot. We also had an experience at the BWV where the people next to us kept doing what sounded like moving furniture.

We have had many vacations though that haven't been interrupted by the neighbors.
