Do you know how to change a cloth diaper?

I used cloth on both of my kids. I prefered them. We had diaper service for the first one.

When DS8 came home from the hospital, he weighed almost 4#. Regular disposable diapers were WAY too big on him. The hospital sent us home with an extra package of the premie diapers (which you can now buy in the store) but they sure didn't last very long. We used cloth diapers until he was big enough to use the newborn size. We cut them in half keeping the thickest part to make them fit. DH became very good at diapering him with those things. I hated doing it and then washing them. It was a day to celebrate when the newborn size fit -- in more than one way.:D

Many of your responses are so clever!! lol
Walking down memory lane here.

Yes, used them on both DS many years ago(23 & 18 now). DS #1 had extra sensitive skin, paper diapers caused irritation...used diaper service for both, and paper diapers when at baby sitter with EXPLICIT instruction to CHANGE the disposables FREQUENTLY. If not, instant rash would tell.

Yup, I'm the oldest so I changed my youngest brothers diapers and my cousins. I think I can still remember how to fold them too.

Sure, I toss it in the washing machine and get a new one.

Of course, I only use them for dusting and when the girls were younger, as burp rags....

What did the people who gave them to us think we would use them for?

They are wonderful for dusting with. I've got a few right now. No, these were never used on anyone's behind. lol I bought them just to dust with. :teeth:

I had a diaper service when my oldes DD (12) was a baby...last until I had 2 babies and then the amount of diapers was to great.....I reluctantly switched but was glad when I finally did...:D :D :D :D

The really weren't to much worse then disposable ...except that you couldn't just throw them out when you were done....they have velcro diaper wraps that make them easy on easy off...

I also had a diaper service with velcro diaper wraps. I really liked them a lot. Once a week I put a blue bag of dirty diapers on my front steps and another blue bag of clean diapers would appear. They were really no different than disposables. Easy on and easy off. The only extra step was "shaking out" the yucky ones before they would go into the diaper pail. If you really think about it, you should probably do that with disposables too. Who really wants all that human waste in landfills anyway?

Yes - I know how too - DD developed awful rash/yeast infection and we used cloth for a couple of weeks for better air flow - I switched back ASAP.

I never knew how to change a diaper until my own son was born, and then it was only disposables so, no, I don't know how to change a cloth diaper. :)

aaaaah.....cloth diapers.... :D

brings back many memories....the constant bickering over whose turn it was to "dump the lump".....which led to the decision to keep a list to keep track of whose turn it was....THEN the bickering about who changed the list.... :D

needless to say, with 5 of my 7 sisters younger than me....my 5 brothers younger than me...and our oldest DS and DD who wore cloth diapers...YES! i know how to change one....

I sure am glad those days are "behind" (pun) me now....:bounce:

I used them on my DD They are cheaper then disposables

Just make sure you have a pail of water and detergent to soak them in ( after you rinse them)

Sure do! My children are in their twenties. DD wore cloth diapers all the time and DS wore Pampers at night. Pampers were all there was!!!

Yes, I do. My little sister (she is 7 1/2 years younger) had cloth diapers. My mom used Dy-Dee diaper service, so it wasn't a big deal at all. You didn't have to rinse them or anything, either. They took care of it all.

YEP! I changed them for about 4 years of my life and I am so glad that I don't have to anymore.
