As many of you are aware my DS is a talented swimmer, but I found out at the committee meeting last night that his swimming club is in iminent danger of closing due to financial reasons. We has a brainstoriming session and came up with the idea of the club producing a recipe book with favourite recipes donated by club members, coaches and if we can contact them famous sportsmen/women (or indeed anyone famous that we can contact). I have taken on the task of find emails/address for these people so wondered if anyone at the Dis has any such contacts that may be could be PM'd to me or any ideas of how we could go about contacting them.

We have a parent at the club whose company will print and bind the booklets for us, so we just need the recipes now.!!!!!

How much money does your club need? A cookbook probably won't cover those costs. If I were friends with someone famous, I wouldn't give you that information, sorry. No one likes their privacy invaded. I think the best thing to do is to contact some local sports teams through their PR office and see if they can send something out.

just to let you know-cookbooks are very labor intensive and a problem you run into is many people submit recipies that they have gotten from other cookbooks and may result in copywrite violations if re-printed. a npo i was on the board of did one several years ago and still has hundreds of copies left (they use them as part of raffle prize baskets now).

i had a co-worker whose son was/is a popular pro football player and she had said that the bulk of his participation in fundraisers was handled through the team (they wanted to 'clear' events to ensure they represented the public image of the team, and he got so many requests it acted as a clearing house for requests).

don't know if you have one near you, but we have a university near our home that has a top ranked national swim team that gets allot of their participants from the local clubs-so they are very supportive of keeping these around. i've seen the local clubs do fund raisers wherein they've gotten assitance/guidance/volunteers from the university team/staff and allot of media coverage. you'll see something like "the championship x university swim team in support of x swim club is sponsoring a family fun night-come to a spagetti dinner and get to meet and be served by your favorite local champions" (then they do raffles or silent auctions of autographed stuff, lunches with the athletes, stuff like that).

I've known the drummer from Breaking Benjamin since we were 5 years old. One of the nicest people you'd ever meet!

Well, back home our neighbor is a baseball player. As for me, do Disney characters count? :teeth:

My husband is kind of famous in a very small group of people. It is funny when people call and are like are you THE $%% R*(B_#??? :rotfl:

He gets teased at work and they call him THE )(*(& #$%U)&&

His name brings up like 60k links on amazon and you even get piccies of him if you type his name in google image search.

But he is not a household name, so I guess I would have to say no.
