Do you know any meth addicts?

Last week or so we saw a documentary on the lives of meth users. I know that this is a real problem and not concentrated on any particular demigraphic. The havoc wreaked by this drug is unbelievable. Since watching the film, I find myself looking for "signs" everywhere I go I am happy to report that I do not think I know any users of this evil drug. Sure I know people that indulge in other things, but not meth.

Do you and have you tried to help?

Yup, my former sister in law. She gave everything up for it. Her job, house, marriage, and child. Since Nov, she has been arrested twice for having it on her. My 6 year old nephew will have nothing to do with his mother. His doing. He even told my other nephew he no longer has a mommy.

That is so sad. but completely understandable. They say the grip this drug has is most powerful

Most users will stay away from people they know because they don't want you to know what they are doing.

Sometimes it is pretty hard to tell one good way is look for twitches or ticks and they think they see things that are not there because the get paranoid.

I see it as a blessing for my nephew. As she has never really wanted him, but put up with him. He is now a happy, stable, content child. He only asked a few questions when she left. At first she would call ever Sunday to talk to him. She would make plans to do stuff with him and never show up. Then it got to the point where she would call and he wouldn't get on the phone. He would have to be made and then would only talk a few moments and hang up on her. Now she doesn't call at all and he is fine with it.

I believe that a former co-worker was a recovered meth addict who *might* have gone back to using.

She had "meth mouth" and fully admitted that she and her ex-boyfriend had been for all purposes run out of the last state they lived in due to drugs.

She had a lot of psycological issues as well, and if we took every family drama that ever reared its head on the DIS and lumped them together, we still couldn't match her real-life messes. First kid at 14. Second kid at 17. Three different husbands, none of whom were the kids fathers, one of whom was gay and she married him for any number of reasons--they changed by the day. The son was in prison (again), the daughter was a mess and had left the state because family services were going to take the grandkids. The son had a could of kids with a couple of girlfriends, the first kid lived with a third girfriend, not his mother because his mother was a methhead. This is just the very tip of the iceburg, it gets better with domestic abuse, assault arrensts, poverty, STD's, health issues, mental illness, family fueds. It was Jerry Springer on steroids. Dr. Phil would have tossed his hands in the air and walked out.

One of our good friends is a Sheriff and he goes on stake outs as he is also in a drug unit. I asked him last night to bring me whatever drug would get this weight off. He laughed at me because he knew I was kidding!!!!

Meth is horrible here so yes I've seen quite a few people that are addicted. The daughter of the co-owner of our local bowling lanes is on it horribly. She's in her 40's and has two kids. She weighs probably 80 pounds, her teeth are rotted.....she steals money from anywhere she can get it. Really sad!

I don't personally know anyone, but meth is a huge problem where I live. A lab blew up down the street a few weeks ago. Meth is absolutely disgusting. I can look at someone and tell you if they're on it or not, and usually approximately how long. Thats how much I've seen it.

I have someone I suspect is. If it isn't meth it is something. She has lost tons of weight, to the point that she is nearly unrecognizable. Left her husband. Refuses to speak to anyone who was her friend 'before.' If she DOES happen to speak to a previous friend she is completely paranoid. She doesn't show up for work. It is really quite said.

The reason we suspect meth is because her downward sprial was very quick. Less than 3 months from being in a happy normal marriage with a promising career to getting divorced, bouncing checks left and right, skipping work, etc.

I haven't seen her so I can't tell for sure.

My ex-neighbor (we moved). We watched her downslide. She had 4 young children and wouldn't even know where they were. Obvious sign - -weight loss (I see the temptation there). She looked like skeletor. Downward spiral regarding everything -- her hair -- her eyes- - her life. Sad thing, she took her husband with her (an attorney). She lost custody of 2 of her kids from a prior marriage and I heard she filed bankruptcy. Sad Makes you wonder what makes these people say -- Yeah, today I'm going to do meth.

My Lord, don't they know what it is made from. That should tell you something there.

I don't think I know anyone who does meth. However, I don't know what the signs of meth use are.

I don't know anyone personally. I am a dental hygienist and I see "meth mouth" all the time. Most of the patients that present with this condition are white teenagers and young adults, so sad and STUPID!!
