Do you have to use porters at the port?

Kathy, I apologize, I didn't read that you had purchased transfers too! Did you know you can DROP the transfers and get a credit back for what you paid? I would highly recommend doing that and just using the limo. :)

If you want to keep the transfers then YES, the baggage service would be included with that and you would be able to have DCL pick up your bags and transport them to the port for you. :)

OK DCL can handle the bags since we paid for the transfers but only take advantage of the luggage transportation. Would we need to check in at the DCL bus check spot even though we would not be riding the buses? With all of the new security procedures I don't want to do anything that might delay the bags. Kathy

You're willing to keep the transfers just so they haul your luggage even though you're taking a limo instead? Wow! You must <b><i>really</i></b> hate handling your luggage to be willing to pay that much just for luggage transfer!

The only exception would be carry-on bags that are small enough to fit through airport-style security, and I have yet to know anyone who can pack for an entire cruise in carry-on bags.

You haven't met me yet...I managed to pack in a small duffel (it is perfect for a carry on, smaller then the suitcases most people shlep on an airplane)on my cruise last week.....It was a 4 day cruise and I fit everything in the duffel except a cosmetic bag(shampoo etc.) this would have fit except I thought I could get some work done and packed 3 hard back books....And yes I had clean clothes for every day plus a formal outfit for one evening...:D :D :D :D

Zurgswife, you're my kind of packer! :) Good for you. :) If you could do that for a SEVEN-night cruise you'd be my hero, LOL! ;)

I will have a rental car and two large bags. I want to drop DW off at the port with the bags and then turn in the rental car.

Does my DW then give the bags to the porter? When does she give him at tip? What is appropriate? $2-$5? At hotel, you usually give a tip until the bags are delivered.

Do I need to be present for checkin process or can I give my DW my passport and tickets to checkin for me?

pjacobi, you'll encounter the porters when you pull up to the terminal to drop off your DW and your luggage. It's appropriate to tip them the same amount that you would the curbside luggage porter at the airport. (I tip $1/bag.)

Did I see a post a couple of months ago that DCL had re-opened the parking lot next to the terminal for the 7-night cruises? Not that it makes any difference as far as droping the luggage with the porters.

:earsboy: :earsgirl: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Yes, the lots next to the terminal <b><i>may</i></b> be open for cars only, but it doesn't make a difference regarding traffic flow. You'll still want to drop your luggage at curbside and then park the car. The entrance for the terminal-side lots are beyond the curbside dropoff area, just beyond the curve.

YES, the lot next to the terminal is open. :) I parked there in December. I was told that that the lot next to the ship is for the MAGIC, though, the WONDER passengers park across the street. Don't know if that has changed since then.

I'm even more confused. Mostly because I'm not sure of all these terms. Embarktion, Disembarktion etc...

I am flying in to Orlando airport, and have DCL transfers. I think that someone from DCL will get my bags from the airport and they will show up somehow in my stateroom. Is that correct?

Where I get confused is upon leaving. I am on a 3 day wonder. I understat that on Saturday night I have to have our bags in the hall by 11pm. Then on Sunday morning we go to breakfast and leave. I was hoping someone would take our bags and we wouldn't have to worry about them again until we got back to the airport at home. But, it sounds like I have to pick them up again before or after customs. Can someone explain this.

Hi Leslie! I'll try to help. :)

You will get baggage tags with your trip documents. Since you have purchased DCL transfers, be sure to put those tags on BEFORE you check your bags at the airport for your flight out to Orlando. The next time you see your bags they will be outside your stateroom. :) DCL will pick up your bags from baggage claim and transport them to the ship for you.

After the cruise EVERYONE must claim their own bags through customs. There are porters there to help, if necessary. Just claim your bags and take your bags to the DCL busses, or if you are on an airline that has a baggage check-in at the port, to the airline counter. You will either check your bags there or they will be loaded on the bus with you and you check them at the airport.

Hope that helps a little! :)

No, customs is in the terminal, right as you exit with your bags. :)

Hi Dave. It isn't the fact we hate handling the luggage more the fact every time we have used the "DCL picks the bags up from hotel and they magically appear in the room" we have always gotten them early. And knowing my husband, he just doesn't want to mess with trying to get a refund since we have already made final payment on the cruise. I am looking forword to the limo ride, it is a surprise to our daughter. Kathy
