Do you have to pay for your Visa (ESTA)

Hi, we are just about to renew ours and it's saying there's a cost of $14. I seem to remember something on here about it being some kind of scam. Can anyone shed any light on this please??? We didn't pay last time but maybe it has changed thanks in advance

Yes, a $US14 fee has been charged since September of last year.

I am not exactly sure what you mean by renewing. Because my ESTA was still valid from before Sept 2010 I didn't have to pay anything. The webpage on the right hand side allows you to check the status of a previously issued ESTA and see if you have to pay.

The first one we did in 2009 has expired and that's why we're renewing and obviously have to pay now.
