Hi all! First time going home since the pandemic started and I feel like I'm going in as a complete newbie as I feel like everything has changed! So I had a couple of questions. 1.) are you forced to mobile order or can you go in line like regular at the quick service locations? 2.) It seems like menu's have changed a bit and I don't see all my favorites :( Can you modify your order? Like at Columbia Harbor House I usually only get the fish platter with fries and when I look at the mobile ordering i only see the trio platter and I don't see any way to modify it. Can I somehow just get fish? Any tips or tricks going now vs before covid. I want to keep my expectations reasonable so that I don't get disappointed that it is not like before! Thanks in advance!

When i was there , we did see CMs at the door helping people with mobile order so I think you must do it.

But, since we love mobile ordering, we didn’t try any other way. I can’t answer the other part as we just went with what we’re options.

I thought that the mobile ordering would be a bit tough, but it really was not that bad. There were a few instances - like for example we were eating at the Jambo House cafe near the pool (i forget the name) and online the menu said they had plain cheese pizza, but the mobile ordering only had some specialty pizza. So for the sake of my 2-year old's pickyness, I went to the cashier to order and it wasn't a problem. I found that if you didnt' see what you wanted, you can always ask.

Not sure all have adopted it but now you can either mobile order for a number of the counter service places in the parks or stand in a line. However, you may want to avoid that second option. What I am being told is that management either has no idea what they are doing or they have intentionally decided to severely punish those who decide to do the line. You can walk into a place like ABC Commissary, that has many of those double line order places, but all but one of the lines is devoted to mobile pick-up. The single line for those who want to come in and order can get hugely long, including because only one or two of the many employees in the kitchen are working on orders made in that line while all the others are often just standing around waiting for mobile orders.

They prefer to have 90-95 percent of their orders to come from mobile order. I can order with a human every time, but only because of the magic words food allergies. I have seen cast members refuse a non dietary guest the opportunity to order in person. At ABC Commissary I had to wait outside for the chef, picked what I wanted, went inside to pay for my choice, then was pointed to a different waiting area. Overall the process was a bear but I got food I could eat.

We were at GF in May and I was able to order in person at Gaspy's, which I had to do since the allergy waffles are not a choice on the mobile-order menu. Also, oddly, there were items at the cash register that weren't on the mobile order menu either.

I did this only once, however, since the allergy waffles (they're gluten-free and vegan, btw) were awful. A big letdown.

When I was there a few weeks ago, CS places in the theme parks were pretty strict about having to mobile order. I remember at Satuli Canteenthere was a CM out front, and when I showed him "We're preparing your order" screen, he told me to come back when it was ready. When my screen said it was ready, and so the screen turned blue, I showed him, and he then said "now you have the blue ticket to go in" and waved me thru. But at resort CS, most people ordered when they got there. I did on the first day because something that was on their menu that I wanted, wasn't listed as being available on mobile order. The CM just said "Oh, that always happens!" and then I noticed that almost everyone orders the "old way" (with a CM at the cash register) at resort CS, at least the ones I went to, Gasparilla Grill, Captain Cooks (easy walk over from VGF), Contempt Cafe (again, walked over), and Mara.

Or you can do like me and when the family was all mobile ordering at The Land Grill, I accidentally pick a restaurant at the American Pavilion. When the order was ready we realized our mistake and my wife and I(66 and 68) made a mad dash way over to get and eat our order. It was remade for us and they stated it was something that happens all the time. From that point forward our daughter-in-law placed our order for us. We all got a laugh our of it but boy it was not fun at the time:)...ºoº

I'm glad you can order at the counter at resorts! Mom and I are staying at ASM & Riviera in Nov. Except for MK, mom will be doing more resort only days while I go park commando.

She has a flip phone, so I was a little concerned about her ordering at ASM food court and Primo Piatto. I know she can order in person at Bar Riva, but I'm glad she won't get any pushback at the others.
