Do you have to make reservations?

I just booked our vacation today for this coming weekend 12/12-12/15. Do Table Service restaurants require reservations, or do they take walk-ins sometimes?

There will be places that have openings, but many of the in park places could be booked. I know that at the MK around City Hall they have a sign up usually telling where you can get reservations for that day.

Not impossible, but very hard to walk up.They do not hold any tables for walk ups so unless there are alot of no shows or cancellations you may not have any luck.I find the larger the party size is the harder it is, it is also hard at really popular places( like the theme park restaurants, and character meals), also difficult during traditional meal times. i am thinking it may also be difficult because I think free dining is going on which overloads the restaurants. My advice either try to make ressies before you go, or call first thing each morning you wake up in Wdw to see what may available if anything.

Because of the dining plan, most of the table service places book up in advance and aren't able to accomodate walk-ups. A few places have a blanket no-walk-ups policy, but even those that accept walk-ups will often stop taking them after a certain time of night if they are booked.

'Ohana is a prime example; they will accept walk-ups until they are booked solid - which happens pretty often. But even when they accept a walk-up, the wait is usually 90-180 minutes.

The easiest places to get into without a ressie are the buffets. I typically have no trouble getting into Hollywood and Vine or Liberty Tree Tavern as a walk-up, or if I stop by the restaurant earlier in the day and ask for a dinner ressie. But I'm solo - it's a lot easier for me to get in someplace than a party of 3 or more.

For the most popular places, an advance ressie is pretty much a must these days, especially if your party is more than 2.

It will be very tough unless you go to the table service places at non-conventional times.

Also dont forget to look at places at other resorts also. Those are sometimes easier to get into on short notice.

I would get on the phone and try and confirm a few things but we have been lucky to grab a walk up right when places open.
