DO you have the Disney Club Card?

I have had the Disney Club Card since it came out. I bought into DVC this year and my renewal is up. How many of you have this card and is it worth it? (I know it is being phased out and will be terminated Dec 2003)

I usually used it for discounts at the Disney store and my passes. I will need to renew 1 AP before the end of the year. Any opinions or advice?

I just renewed mine. The savings on our two PAPs more than cover the cost of DC. The other discounts are just gravy.

Okay, I just reread your post, and saw that you use it at The Disney Store. I would definitely renew, as I believe that is the only discount available there.

We don't have one because we don't buy APs and DVC members already get 10% off everything at the Disney Store. We used to have it before we became DVC members. I do kind of miss the Disney magazine and had thought about buying in again just to get that. Then I found the magazine at Barnes and Noble. Doesn't the Disney Club end at the end of this year?

If anything, DVC gets a better discount at the Disney Store than DC since they excluded collectibles for them, but not DVC. The difference is that the DC discount is honored with catalog/online sales, DVC is not.

Disney now has ticket discounts for anyone buying them before arrival, not just DC members. I would call to see what the AP renewal price is. If it's the same, with or without the membership, then I would reconsider renewing the DC.

There is no advance discount on AP's. It's $392.99 regular price, $377.01 Disney Club, $15.98 savings.

You do save some on hoppers too. A 5 day hopper plus is $275 regular, $263 advance, $250 advance DC.

My DC expires in July, I'm planning on buying 2 AP's in May and just let the DC expire. That's another option to look at - buy your passes before your DC expires. When you buy an AP get a voucher, so it doesn't start until you exchange it at WDW. I wonder if the new Disney Visa will have some pass discounts with it.

I thought someone told me you had to renew your DC card already if you wanted it to be good for the whole next year. Mine expires in July and I know I won't be able to renew mine at that time.
Thanks for the info on preordering tickets, I didn't know there was a discount for that! Where do I buy the tickets to get this discount?

You can get some types of Disney Club discounted park hopper plus tickets at the Disney Store. (There is no Disney Club discount on the "plain" park hopper tickets). You can also get DC discounted AP/PAP tickets there. However, most Disney stores do not keep AP/PAP vouchers in stock, so if you go this route, be sure to allow enough time for them to order the vouchers for you before you leave on your trip. For the AP/PAP "pre-ordered" tickets, you will actually receive a voucher. You will need to exchange the voucher for the actual AP/PAP ticket at WDW. Your year of use starts on the day you exchange the ticket.

You can also order tickets over the phone and get a Disney Club discount. Just call the number on the back of your DC card. There is a $3 shipping charge per order when you oreder over the phone. You will get actual tickets if you order PHP passes and vouchers if you order AP/PAP tickets.

I decided not to renew my Disney Club membership. The only discounts I used were the one for annual passes and the one for National Car . Since we do not plan to buy annual passes again for awhile, the DC is really of no use to us. We can get comparable car rental discounts through other organizations and as mentioned n other posts, DVC gives us a discount at TDS. DVC also gives us pretty much the same dining and minor park admission discounts as the Disney Cub did. I've found that the online ticket brokers have prices as good or better than the Disney Club on park hopper plus tickets. Couldn't find any reason for me to spend $$ on renewing DC.

Making our first trip home January 24. Our DC card expires Feb 1 this year so we were still able to get 5-day hopper plus passes at the DC rate for this year. I didn't realize DVC has 10% at the Disney Store. What other stores in Downtown give a DVC discount?

I didn't realize you could get a DVC discount at the Disney stores either. Is this really true? I don't remember reading this in the book or maybe I just forgot. Thanks.

I'm in the same boat, mine expires 2/1 and I am flying home 1/31 so I did not renew. I did however purchase my 7 day park-hoppers through DC via the mail already though. It was my understanding that you could only get the discount if you pre-purchased the passes, but that it would not be honored at the gate.

Also does DVC get us a discount at the Wide World of Disney in DD? I was happy to have my DC card through our trip, since I plan on doing some shopping there and always enjoy that discount.

There is not a DVC discount at the World of Disney in Downtown Disney or any other DD store. World of Disney is not part of The Disney Store chain. Members do get a 10% discount at The Disney Store. AP Holders & DC get a 10% discount at World of Disney.

DVC gets a discount at The Disney Store, not World of Disney at Downtown Disney. We used to get the discount at WoD, but that ended 12/31/02. Now all we get is The Disney Store, not The Disney Catalog, not The Disney Store Online, not World of Disney or any store at WDW.

There are still discounts for dining at Downtown Disney, though.

You can renew your card now and they will prorate the cost. For you, it would be July through December. Mine was due to expire in August, and when I renewed a couple of weeks ago, the prorated cost was $9-something.

Don't wait too long to do this, though. The published deadline for renewing was Dec. 12. However, they WILL still renew anyone who calls -- without question. Good luck!

Thank you for the information. I never bothered to get the discount with my DVC card as I had the DC card and used that. Now I will use my DVC card at the Disney stores.
