Do you have radiant flooring??

I am hoping to remodel kitchen and would love to include radiant flooring. I plan on getting rid of the ceramic tile and installing oak hard wood floors. Can you put radiant flooring under wood floors??? Is radiant flooring really expensive??? Do you like/love/hate it???

I can't answer about radiant flooring, but I want to get rid of my hardwood in my kitchen and put in tile.

I can't answer all of your questions, but my parents just installed radiant heating in their house. It is expensive, but just how expensive I'm not sure as DH does HVAC for a living and got the parts at a wholesale discount for my parents.

You can install radiant heat under hardwood floors. This is what my parents did.

Since it's not in my house I can't tell you if I like/love/hate it. I will say their house is actually sometimes overly warm as with their system you can only lower the temperature 1 degree at a time and their basement is a sauna as a lot of the heat goes down into the basement.

I don't know how much it costs, but we have it in our home and I LOVE it. The BEST heat ever. So consistent, and nice on the feet. It doesn't cost much to run ours, that's for sure. It operates off a single boiler that warms the oil in the radiant flooring. I wish I had it upstairs (it is only in the lower level). Love. Love. Love. That's me.

We have radiant heat under tile. We looked into putting it under the hardwood too and found out we would have to buy a 5 ply hardwood floor to be able to handle the expansion and contraction. Think of how plywood is better than a plan of wood. The added cost was too much so we did not put in the underfloor with the wood.
