Let me tell you I think I used to have "listener" tatooed on my head. After I started having my own grown up issues and no one around to help or listen I knew it was time to ditch the drainers and find some helpers.

I was honest with them. I told them that I had enough issues in my life for a season of Jerry Springer and that they needed to take their stuff to Ricki Lake. If they ever got their lives together and could act like a grown up give me a call. I still haven't heard from anyone

Have a needy friend I stopped helping her every time she called me stopped taking her places stopped dropping everything to cater to her every need. Mainly cause frog said "STOP!" He saw what I couldn't see that she was using me for everything she could get out of me and never helped me when I needed her. Saw her the other day she came by and was busy so she couldn't chat for long lol and that is saying something.

I never use IM anymore for just that reason. And I haven't used it in years. I couldn't get online without being bombarded by people. Well, certain people. And I don't know what I'd do without caller id.
