Whether or not you are celebrate St. Patrick's Day, I was curious if you any Irish heritage in your family? I have Irish relatives on both side of my family.

On both my father's and mother's sides, I have one set of great-great grandparents who emigrated to the United States from Northern Ireland in the early 1870's. Oddly, I think all of them were from the same county (Antrim).

I have two great-great-grandmothers on my mom's side (one on her mom's, one on her dad's) that came from Ireland. Both came through Canada first.

My Dad always thought his dad was Irish, but now we're not so sure.

Irish, Welsh and Scottish on both sides - same with my husband's family.

I'm pretty sure I do, but it was at least 3 generations ago. My most recent heritage is Welch and English (at least in terms of where my mum and dad's family names come from).

Yes, on both sides of the family.

My maternal grandpa emigrated to America in 1910 at the age of 2 with his parents. My maternal grandma came with her parents in 1915 at the age of 5. Both families settled in Pittsburgh and my grandma and grandpa met in high school. They married and had my mom (along with 13 others!). So I am technically 2nd generation Irish-American. My dad's dad is Irish and his mom is British, so I consider myself 95% Irish!

My moms family are the Boyle's and my dad's are the Brennan's.

Pretty much 90% of my hometown is Irish.

Well I hope so since I am Irish :cool1:

Happy St Patricks Day

You've got a good claim!

Dad is Scottish. I think it's his great grandpa from Ireland on his dad's side and great grandma on his mom's. I've been trying to research it but the names are just too common.

....:scratchin ....ummmm, I don't think that would be a grandmother then....:confused3

?? Not understanding your confusion. What's wrong with 4th great grandmother

I'm more Scottish than anything, but English and Irish are definitely up there. The red hair and green eyes can attest to that! :shamrock:

Yup, my father emigrated to Boston from Ireland when he was 19 in the early 80's. My mom's father also emigrated from Ireland to NYC in the 50's. I could hardly be more Irish lol.

Yes my grandfather was 1/2 Irish and his dad, my great-grandfather 100% Irish. It works out about 20% Irish for me overall.

No, I'm mostly Italian.
But both husbands were/are mostly Irish, so I guess my dkids are.
