Do you have "Everything must be perfect before we go" syndrome?

I don't know what it is about WDW vacations but I need everything squared away before I go. If it isn't I go a little nuts trying to make it happen.

Besides the usual things like trip planning and packing I also need the house and car (some years I get it detailed before we leave) in perfect order. I also like to be in better shape before vacation so I exercise an hour a day, unfortunately this time I have a problem with my ear (swimmer's ear) 5 days before we go. Hopefully it will clear up.

Why so particular? I guess it is because you work 50 weeks a year and those 2 weeks off are precious not to mention a vacation at WDW isn't cheap.

I'm that way with the house - I do super cleaning before we leave. No one else understands that - they laugh about me cleaning like crazy in case someone breaks into the house!

yup, we have been cleaning for a week now. so far i have cleaned out everyones bedroom closests, took apart everyones room and completely dusted every item(or threw it away, threw 4 bags of trash away). washed all walls in the bedrooms and windows.
this week ill do the rest of the house the same way.
then the night before we leave ill do every lick of laundry and i wont even leave a spoon in the dishwasher.

i know why i do it. i dont want to come home from such a beautiful place to smacked with reality right away. not that my house is ever really dirty, but its not usually as perfect as it will be when i get back. it just helps to keep the vacation mood flowing:lovestruc

My husband thinks I'm crazy for cleaning before we leave. I clean EVERYTHING!! I hate to come home to a mess.

I love to come home to a clean house plus since we drive, the car must be clean before we leave.

In July the kids and I went to FL the day before DH left for a work conference.

When I got home, DH had left messes in the bathroom, kitchen and living room.
I was furious  because he knew I liked to come home to a clean house and he'd even seen me cleaning for 2 days before we left. I got home before him and had to clean it all again.

I don't think he'll make that mistake again. :lmao:

Yep, it's not always perfect but I like things in order before we go. DH stays home a week before flying out to join us so it's tough to see what's messy again when we get back. Part of my fear is that if anything (god forbid) happened to us, I'd hate for the neighbors or family to have come in or sort through a messy house!

OMG I said that same thing to ds (if anything happened and strangers came into our house I'd want it perfect). He thought I was absolutely, positively, crazy!

I spend time cleaning the house when I am not expecting any guest. I tell dh pick up this and that so that IF someone comes over it is already clean. One day my mom and uncle were coming over they were just down the street at my uncles house(10 min away) dh is cleaning like crazy:scared1: I just sit there and let him do it. He is mad at me because I am not helping . I said if you would have cleaned up when I asked you to you would not be running around now.

OMG! I'm not alone!

I must have everything in order before I leave. I always have an uneasy feeling before I drive away...... I worry about odd...random things ....... like..... "Did you remember to pay the electric bill?" or " Did I blow out that candle last night?"

We leave to WDW in less than a month and today I was cleaning out the vent under the fridge. My DH came in and asked what I was doing. I told him (very matter-of-factly) "Cleaning out the vent because I'm afraid the dust will cause the fridge to stop working while we are at Disney World." I could actually feel him rolling his eyes behind my back.

i get those same driving away fears. what i have started doing, that helps a bit is i get everyone in the car and all the luggage, then i go back in the house and walk each room to see that everything looks right. i make sure no one enters the house after i walk out.

but, by the time i get to the airport im already thinking "did i look at that" "was that turned off".

Guilty here too, the house, yard, barn, car all has to be freshly cleaned an in perfect order drives the whole family NUTS here but I can't help it...

Good to see I'm not alone, lol. I'm a single parent so I do all my cleaning while DD is with the ex. She likes the way everything becomes perfect before our trip. Well, 3 days to go, have to finish cleaning carpets, do my room and one more bathroom and car.

You're not alone!
Although I don't do a major cleaning. I do up all of the laundry and clean out the fridge. Then I hire my friend who does house cleaning to come and clean the house while we're gone. One less thing for me to cram into the packing time, my friend earns some extra cash AND I have a clean house to come home to. I hate coming home to a messy house. Sucks all the vacation relaxation right out of me!!

Totally guilty! Every time I finish something on my to do list, I seem to add two things. As if all the pre-packing laundry isn't enough! To add to the chaos, my parents will be waiting at my house when we get back from the trip.:laundy:

I don't know, at some point my ticker stops making me happy and turns into the doomsday clock!:rotfl:

I do it too. I think it is because I know I will be totally depressed when I get home so I want everythign to be as perfect as possible.

I AM NOT ALONE!!!!:grouphug: I love to come home to a clean home. I have made a list for each day of the things I need to do before leaving in two weeks. I am doing it this way for the first time. I am hoping I can relax more and not feel so rushed.:thumbsup2

I hope you all have WONDERFUL trips!! And that you come home to WONDERFUL clean houses!

WE CAN DO IT!!!

we do that too, i have made a daily list of thigns to clean, we have been cleaning baseboards, ceiling fans, the DOGS!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: closets, etc etc and our sons dont even know we are going!! and we leave SUNDAY:rotfl:
They have been scratching their heads wondering if they will be getting extra allowance or something
not only that, i have made gift bags and tshirts for every day we are there without them knowing....the pics are in my links! :yay:

YES! I do this all the time! Big trips, weekend trips or even day trips! I love coming come to a clean, neat and organized home! There is always unpacking/laundry, etc to do when we get home, I want that to be our only task!

I went to HS with a kid whose parents left for FL for the winter (weeks!) and left the lunch hotdogs on the stove. :scared1: Who does that?

Can't wait to start cleaning! (Although I have 5 months to wait!)
