Do you have cable or satellite?

We cancelled cable over a year ago. My older kids complain all the time that we don't have it anymore and that kids at school talk about all these shows and they don't have a clue what they are talking about. They also miss Discovery Channel and History Channel.

I have to admit there are some things I miss like HDTV, but I'm not caving in. I got tired of paying the bill. I do sometimes feel bad though because they are big time sports fans and they miss some games they would really like to watch.

Cable right now -- planning on DirectTV for the new house (mainly because we hate the cable system offered in that area).

we got rid of cable a year ago too. It was getting too expensive!! We get more channels with Direct TV and more premiums with Direct TV and pay less than we did for basic Cable!!! I would miss the History, Travel and Discovery channels too!

I'm the opposite, I had satelite for both TV and internet and it was expensive , I couldn't watch the local channels ( big problem for us ) I couldn't have more than one TV hooked up without having to buy more equipment, I couldn't have more than one computer hooked up , so we got cable, I love it, nobody complains now, we all got the TV's hooked up, we all got our computers hooked up on cable and we pay almost $40 less a month!

I have Directv too. I live in a rural area and we can't get cable. I'd probably still go with Directv though if the cable becomes available in 50 years or so.;)

cinlee3, I did the same thing last year and so far the biggest complainer has been DH....and he's rarely home and sitting down long enough to watch something anyway. It was hard in the beginning. We, okay I, really missed ER, Law & Order, and the kids really missed PBS, but we've adjusted and now I don't know how we had time to sit and watch. Now we watch movies, including our old home movies, alot....buy cheap ones, use coupons to rent one/get one free. I think we'll get a small antenna so that we can get the local stations and PBS again.

Our cable company was worthless and kept changing stations on us....by the end we were paying a couple $$ more for the basic cable and only watching HALF of the available stations. There were 3-4 inspirational channels, with live broadcasts of church services, 3-4 shopping networks, the local college had a channel just with advertisements of their services. It was too frustrating, almost like they were pushing the customers into buying the expanded cable which had way too many channels that we would never watch.

I say, make it like a buffet, charge a certain price, let me pick 10 channels and that's it.

Cable, mainly because I have way too many TV sets that would need a satellite converter box to make it economically worthwhile. And since my cable modem comes through the same wire, I guess I'm stuck with my setup for the foreseeable future.

We have cable. I'd like to get rid of cable and not get a satellite either, but DH works from home sometimes, and we have to have the cable modem. Our cable company prices it so that we might as well get TV and Internet, so we do.

Cable. :D
I don't want the expense of having to hook up all the T.V's.
We also use the cable to hook up to the internet. I would be lost without watching TLC or HGTV on the weekends. I live for those home improvement/decorating shows.

We have DirecTV with no premium channels (no HBO, Showtime, etc.), and we love it! I just love the travel channel! :)

We've got Dish Network.

But then again, where we live...There's no Cable, DSL, or even Pizza Delivery. (yes, we have running water;) )

both because I need local channels but love my directv have cable for internet

I guess we are fortunate that we have good reception without the cable so we do get network TV. Don't know if DD could live without PBS:)

We've got cable here too...........

with local channels, same price as cable, better picture and on 2 tvs. Cable modem, but I won't get cable TV ever again. They alway increase the price and give us less channels than DIsh (except for outdoor live and golf, but I don't like them anyway)

We have DirectTV with 3 receivers. There are lots of kids channels, my kids would probably be very upset if we decided to get rid of it. 2 Nick, Noggin, Boomarang, Cartoon Network, PBSKids (only PBS kids programming), KIDS, Toon Disney and 2 Disney. They also enjoy the discovery channels like animal planet etc.

I do receive the Networks on the satellite but there is a charge. We don't have any premium channels. The price is comparable to basic cable.

We have both cable and satellite. DirecTV does not offer local channels here, so we kept basic cable for our locals plus the PBS kids channel. We have the most basic DirecTV lineup. We also just bought a ReplayTV which really rocks. It's a digital video recorder that automatically skips commercials.
