Do you have "assigned seats" at your kitchen table?

I guess not necessarily assigned, but do you sit in the same spot at the table. We do. I'll sit at my spot even if I'm the only one there. It's not anything that's enforced, we just always sit there. Sometimes one of my sons will sit at DH's spot during breakfast, but 95% of the time, they go to their own spots. They've been questioning it lately (well the 5yo has) so I told him he could pick any spot that he wanted because it really doesn't matter. But he still gravitates to his usual place.

Right now, the only "assigned" seat is our 18 month old, but that's just because his seat is attached to the table.

Well, for breakfast, the boys will sit anywhere, but for dinner, yes, we do have "assigned" seats. Also for lunch on the weekends.

Yes, we do tend to sit in the same "spots" around the table. DH always sits in the same spot for breakfast and dinner. Me, on the other hand, I always sit in a certain spot for breakfast, and a different one for dinner. I sit further apart from DH during breakfast so we can both spread out the newspaper to read over coffee.

Yes. sometimes DS, 5, switches with his sister, sometimes he is at the end.

We eat in the dining area of our kitchen 99 percent of the year. We only use the dining room and good stuff on holidays.

No, we sit wherever we end up. Of course I am usually eating at the kitchen counter. lol Did you know you burn more calories standing up then sitting? I always think about when I'm eating my meal standing by the counter. Burnin' that baby weight away!

Yes, we do have assigned dining seating. DH sits on the couch and I sit in the recliner. We also have assigned coasters.

And did you know that if you eat the piece of pie while standing over the kitchen sink, there's no calories in it?

I told my DD that one time, only to walk in and find her eating over the kitchen sink.

We do sit in the same spots when we are eating as a family. If it's just my DH and me, we might sit in different spots (next to each other... ), but in general we stick to the same spots. Yep, just like childhood.

We always sit in the same seats. In fact just last night we got McDonalds for dinner and my DS-16 sat in my seat at the table. I walked in and looked at him and said "what are you doing in my seat". He got up and moved and I told him it was ok for him to sit there but he siad he was moving anyways because it felt weird. LOL

yeah, I guess we do. I guess you do it without really thinking about it. Sometimes my DS's will switch seats, but I don't like no one sitting in my seat.

We don't normally eat at the kitchen table, but when we have our usual weekend BBQ with a few families, we all seem to sit in the same seats. I'm one of those types that have to face the room. Can't stand having my back to everything.

Not really assigned, but we all have our favorite place to sit. Except for DD, she rotates between my side & DH's.

We're pretty much assigned. We used to have to let the boys switch because they both wanted to sit by Dad (we just let whoever's turn it was to set the table sit by Dad), but now that my oldest "doesn't care" he'll sit by me. I feel so loved.
