don't clean up after their dogs do their business? There is one neighbor in our block that simply opens the front door for her two dogs, they go out to poop everywhere and then she calls them back in the house. No clean up, nada.

In the past two weeks, my DD and I have stepped in their poop in our front yard. I was talking to another neighbor last week and he was mad because he had just stepped in dog poop in his yard. This afternoon, I was talking to another neighbor out in his front yard and again I stepped in it.   There were 4 small piles of poop and we know they were from the neighbor's dogs. We talked about it briefly and he said that he has mentioned it to the neighbor before, but you know... it didn't do any good.

So I went on about my business cleaning up leaves and such outside. I then saw the neighbor, that I had just talked to, walk up to the house and he threw the poop in their front yard!!!!!:p :p :p :p I doubt they'll even notice, unless they step in it. It's an ongoing problem and I wish they would clean up after their dogs.

If all the neighbors scooped it up and dropped it on the doorstep of the offending neighbor, that would be quite a pile to ignore.

Isn't there an ordinance or something that your town could enforce? In our, it's posted at the park that you have to clean up after your animals or you'll be fined. The geese in our area, that's another story - yuck!
Good for your neighbor. I wish I could be that brave!

Definitely an attention-getter. They'd probably just think it was some prank and wouldn't associate it with their own carelessness

My Mother's dog is always coming into our yard to do his thing but hey she still takes me clothes shopping and out to lunch so I just grin and scoop it!:p

Olena~ You're right about that.

Yes, there is. Dogs also have to be on a leash, which theirs aren't. Some say that our city has too many restrictions. In fact, these neighbors have been cited for various things in the past. For this kind of problem, someone has to report them. I don't get along with those neighbors, so I just stay away from them. It was quite brave of my other neighbor to do that, I thought it was hilarious!
:p

No I don't have that problem , well I should be more specific , my neighbor across the street has dogs and every now and then for some reason they run away from his yard and they come to mine but that's as far as they go , my dog also sometimes does the same thing but we are talking maybe two or three times a year if that. My dog poops in my yard and always in the same area , I clean it up every couple of days except for the winter, with the snow it's kind of hard. I would check with the township you live in and I would definetely complain, I know I would not like that!

There is a man who lives a couple of blocks from my house. He rides a bike and his dog runs along beside him, off leash. They stop at my yard and the man actually watches the dog defecate on my property. I've actually walked out on my sundeck and looked him right in the eye and he still does nothing. I suppose I could throw on my coat and chase him down the street

It is truly aggravating. At least I don't have little kids to step in it.

We are lucky only have 2 neighbors and they both don't have any pets.

LOL! I would dump the whole load on their front steps, too. :p As for the guy on his bike, I would set up the sprinkler and watch for him. As soon as they stop, turn it on. :p

I wouldn't tolerate a dog pooping on my property. That is one of the reasons why *I* don't have a dog; I don't want to pick up dog poop!!!!! I would tell my neighbors that if their dog poops in my yard, I will rake it right over into their yard. I wouldn't be confrontational about it, just tell them this as a fact so they wouldn't be surprised to see me raking the poop back into their yard.

Fortunately, none of my neighbors have dogs so this isn't an issue for us. They all take excellent care of their yards, too. I really cringe at some of the neighbors-from-h*ll stories I've read on here!!

I am not overly friendly with my neighbors, they are all a lot older than DH and I, but we have no problems at all with them, and vice versa.

LOL Tina, that's a good idea. I live in a condo, and the grounds are hugh. People who don't pick up their poop are fined $25 for each incident. The trouble with that is at night you can't see that happening. As a result, we have many plops of poop around. I have a dog and I never go out without a bag...I don't have a problem with picking up after her. My problem are the other jerks that don't pick up. It really can be a mess, and mostly it is other people from a different court than me, so they don't care.

Oh yes, I've had neighbors that let their dog out (right next door), and he would promptly run to my yard to do his job. (They were my neighbors from the underworld.) There were so many things they did that got to me --- that this was just another drop in the bucket.

I had just got new carpet installed throughout the house. I walked from my car into the house not knowing I had "stepped in it". Tracked it on my new carpet. Hadn't had it a week. I almost lost it on that one. (I don't have a dog...)

Or the times I was mowing my lawn and ran over a "job" or two. Almost lost it those times too. You can imagine.

In addition to the doggy business, my neighbor used to sit in his boat every evening and smoke. How strange is that??? I noticed he'd pick up a tool or two now and then when I was coming or going, but I think he did it to escape. He would flick his butts in my yard!!! Wasn't uncommon to see 50 or more butts at the end of the week along my drive way. And all along my fence front and back yard! (I don't smoke.) They look awful and when you run over them with the lawn mower they look worse. I would pick up the butts with a little trash bag at first, then the more I thought about it, I got mad as h** and started flicking them back. I don't even know if he noticed they were back. But it made me feel better.

Yes, I know about neighbors like yours!

Actually, these neighbors live next door to us. Our houses are not close together and one would think that the dogs have more than enough room to do their business. I guess their owners don't want the feces in their yard. They are the only neighbors that we don't get along with, it would be the perfect neighborhood if they didn't live here.

It's really a lack of respect toward others on the neighbor's part. Believe me when I say that I wouldn't trust them to take care of a cactus. I hope they stepped in it when they got home!:p :p :p

Our problem neighbors moved last summer. We didn't think it would ever happen - we thought they were here to make our life as miserable as possible. DH wouldn't let me throw a party for the other neighbors in our front yard. We did all line up to watch them leave. So, there is hope!

Rita, our next door neighbor's dog runs right to our yard every time they let him out! We don't have a dog, and we certainly don't want to clean up anyone else's dog's mess. My husband has talked to them a few times about it and of course they are apologetic  . Their dog still does it, so we've started picking it up with a shovel and dumping it in piles on their patio. Maybe now they will get the hint.

People in our neighborhood are pretty good about cleaning up after their dogs. It's the people that let their cats run wild and do their business in our plant beds and sit on the roof of the cars that upsets me.

I, too, have a kitty, but he's an indoor kitty. I don't blame the cat I blame the owners.
