Do you have an annual pass?

We (DH and myself) are going to SSR for our first trip "home" in October for 7 nights (then 4 nights DCL) followed by 2 nights SSR before returning home to blighty. I will be returning to SSR the following September (2009) for another 7 nights with DD (20), so within the calender year, but without DH (he humours my Disney obsession but will not go every year!) for another 7 nights at SSR.

It seems like with DVC discount I can get an annual pass at $370 (including tax and at the present exchange rate) - this surely has to be worth me (but not DH) buying an annual pass as the cheapest online pass I can find is £159 which is for 7 days to be used within 14 days - (therefore, at the exchange rate at present - approx £318). Therefore the difference would be $52 (at present exchange rate) for the second week in 2009

Am I missing something in my calculations??

Do you guys try and go within the calender year to take advantage of this??

Any tips appreciated and hope this makes sense!

Thanks

We don't have Disney Annual Passes but do have Universal one's (they are extremely cheap), and yes it's common for us to have done 2 trips within a calendar year.

we haven't got any yet but will definitely be getting them this year - also plan to buy the DDE card as well.

We have 2 trips home planned for this year - 10 nights in July and another 12 nights in October so it really makes sense for us to have them.

your calculations seem about right - I think if you plan on spending more than about 10 days in Disney in a year then they are good value for money.

The DVC discount on the APs is a good perk if you can go twice within a calendar year. I always have one as I manage at least two trips a year; one with a friend.

DH is also not Disney obsessed (or even interested for that matter) but he does appreciate the nice accommodation and surroundings of the DVC resorts :thumbsup2

I have a 'stash' of non-expiring multi-day passes for use by him - but at his current rate of visiting the parks (one day a year so he can dine at Le Cellier!) my supply of passes could outlast him ;)

The AP is definately the way to go if you plan more than one trip a year, especially with the DVC discount.

Once you take account of the other AP benefits like the DDE card, store and restaurant discounts, mini-golf discounts etc. it makes it great value for money :)

APs are great - we have DVC and aim to plan our trips so we always go twice within a 12 month window - then the APs work out dirt cheap compared to teh 14 day tickets we used to buy. You also get all the extra perks -like 10% off at World of Disney which always encourages us to spend more!
