Do you have a tattoo?

I have one - Sorcerer Mickey on my right hip. I got it when I was 18 or 19. It only shows when I wear a bathing suit. I still like it, but at times wish I had gotten something daintier. Having it done did not hurt at bad as I expected, and it took like 1 1/2 hours because it has about 9 colors in it.

I have a Tigger tattoo on my tummy. Got it when I was 31, I think. DH (35 in Sept.) just got one on his right shoulder. It looks great. It's hard to describe, just a circle with some symmetrical swirly designs inside, very cool looking!

I don't like them. DS has never shown interest in getting one and DD's mention it mostly to annoy me.

Just in case they're serious, here's how I end any discussion about tattoos or piercings. I tell the DD's that they can get them the day that their Grandma takes them to have it done.

Then I mention it the next time that we're with Grandma, she about has a stroke, (my Mom can do a major guilt trip on anyone), and I don't hear a peep about it again for a very long time.:teeth:

Not yet, but Roger and I are going to get them late next month.

DH & I both have one. I have a celtic knotwork shamrock on my back and DH has the Rebel Alliance symbol from Star Wars on his calf. Mine didn't really hurt.

My mother layed a major guilt trip on me when she found out we were having them done (I'm 23, DH is 27), but then said she actually kind of liked it once we had it done.

I've always kinda wanted one, but just don't have the nerve to do it! The whole "I'm 80 with a tatoo" thing.

My niece went and had hers done the day after her 18th birthday. My sister almost fainted! Unfortunately, she didn't think it through - she got a dolphin swimming through a rainbow - it is to the right and a little lower than her belly button. So when she wears the low rider jeans you can see the top of it. Very pretty!

Of course my sister and I just stared at it and said - what's going to happen when she gets pregnant? That dolphin's gonna turn into a beluga whale!!!!!!!!!!!

I have 1 and dh has 1. Mine is a tiger also has green eyes, its small and one my shoulder. Ive had it for about 10 years and it is starting to fade some.
DH is of a dragon and is on his upper arm. We were young when we had them done. Its definately not what i would have picked today but its on my shoulder so you can't see it unless i;m in a bathing suit or if I want you to.
I would like to get another , a butterfly on the top of my foot, but dh isn't crazy about the idea.

No Way, I would never get one. Some people like them, but I don't.

I'm 26, have two tattoos and have had them for seven years One on my upper right arm which is a small heart with Mickey Mouse's head inside of the heart. I love and would not trade it in for the world. The one on my breast is a rose with petals falling from it. If my DD (5) decides she wants a tattoo when she's older, I cannot tell her no because I have two. I would just advise her not to get something she may regret later in life or put somewhere where it may hinder her from getting a job.

I have seriously contemplated getting one for almost two years. A good friend said "think about it for at least a year before you do it". I wanted either the sorceror mickey or a stitch on my hip.

What's holding me back? My oldest 4 siblings all have tattoos and they haven't aged very well. Then again, they all got them in the haze of the 70's (I don't think any of them remember actually getting the tattoos or the 70's). Then again, I don't induldge in many of the vices they do and I avoid the sun like the plague, but the family history is not kind to tattoos.

Ironically, my oldest sister went ballistic on her son when she saw his tattoo (he was 25). I think it's cool...a 2" shamrock on his arm and he said "but you have several of them, Mom"! End of argument.

Yes, it seems a lot more prevalent to have one these days. I hate to say it, but in my capacity for hiring at work, I have to turn away people for those visible ones. I don't think many young people think about the ramifications of a tattoo on the hand, forearm, neck or ankle.

I feel bad for an old flame. His family had moved them cross country and he really missed me. On either "real people' or 'that's incredible' they showed how to do your own tattoo and he put my name on his forearm- 2" high and about 6 or 7" long. I'd say don't put anyone's names on your body!

Supposedly, the closer you are to bone, the more discomfort you will feel. I don't have first hand experience, so I can't be the judge, LOL!

The biohazard tattoo strikes me as funny. I remember waiting on a guy in a restaurant I worked in who had eyes tattooed on the back of his head!

I don't have one, but I have a secret desire to get just a tiny black Mickey head like about 3/4 " on my ankle. DH would think I lost my mind for sure. I'm 46!! I have a supply of temporary Mickey tatoos that I apply for vacation and I SO enjoy them!

I have a butterfly tattoo on my right ankle. I got it five years ago. I am 43 and, so far, haven't regretted getting it. My DH has three, one of them is Goofy. My DD has three. My DS doesn't have any yet.

Well, heck, I get tired of the same artwork on my living room walls....what on earth would I do with a tatoo?

DD, 15 was teasing her very conservitive dad about what would happen if she came home with a piercing other than her ear lobe. He said he would hold her down and remove it. So, smartie, she said what if she came home with a tattoo? He had an evil grin and asked "Do you know what a belt sander is?"

Girl Scout Leader,
You sound like my kind of family...........LOL !!!!!:p

I'm glad everyone who has one is happy, but it's not for me:D

Wife got one spring 2002, a rose about 2 inch diameter, with Ryan under it for both her boys, Our son Ryan, and its my middle name..

I've been thinking about one , either joker, mickey of some kind or a Rouge Squadron crest form star wars...

Why, well i like them, and besides if Mr Rogers had some (which he did, thats why he wore long sleve shirts all the time) I could get one too.

I have 2, got them on 2 different Spring Breaks in college. I told my Dad they were henna tattoos and would go away eventually but after 2 years of still having them he finally realized! We tease him a lot for that one :)

I have two tattoos: a fairy on my lower back and a dolphin on my hip. I've been warned that although they look good now, I will surely regret getting them when I'm older. However, I like to look at it this way: my tattoos are each a reminder of a really fun time in my life, the great relationships I have with my friends and of the wonderful youth that will have inevitably faded away. I think that when I'm 80 and I look at my tattoos, they will make me smile even more than they do today (when I'm 25.):D
