We are thinking about purchasing a complete shower kit to replace our upstairs bathtub. This kit has base, door and vinyl sides. The sides look about 1/8 inch thick. My concern is how easily they are to keep a clean look.

Our other option is to build shower walls and cover them with ceramic tile. Purchase only the shower door and a base. If we did this maybe we could somehow make our own base and have a larger shower. We will be doing all the labor ourself.

Any ideas /suggestions.

My DH just put something similar in. It doesn't have the doors, I don't like shower doors. Anyway, it is the tub and then the suround around the 3 walls. It was easy to install and it fits together like a snap together thing. You have to secure it to the studs. It will be alot less work than doing tile. It is really easy to clean. We had the same thing in our other house. Both the one with the tub, and the one with the shower. They sell a spray particularly for this type of shower. All you do is spray and rince, but I wipe it too. It is so easy to clean, we love it. If you have any other questions let me know!

I have one of those tub inserts that came from Bath Refitters - they claim it would be installed in one day - it was - a long one though - it cleans up real quick with just windex and a sponge
