Do you have a pin that

means more to you than any other? I don't mean just an award pin but a pin that was given to you or one that took you forever to get. It could be a set of pins or just one pin by itself.

I ask this cause I was just going over my pin wall and was looking at a series of pins sets wondering what ones I don't want or ones that would make good traders. I stoped and looked at the Innoventions press set. I don't think I ever worked as hard or as long for a set of pins. While they may not be the best looking pins or even good traders anymore. I do look back at the fun I had getting them all and smile. These pins are one a few sets (the first POM set is another) that mean more to me than being just a collectable. They envoke great memories...

How about you? What pin/pins do it for you?

I might pick the old Food and W(h)ine Plate pin.

I connect my hunt for that pin to the roots of so many of my DISpal friendships. And I certainly treasure those friendships even more than the pins themselves.

And guess who traded that pin to me.....Nat NHMickey! :D

I have so many pins that mean alot to me because they were traded with such good friends. Some of the might only be worth pennies but to me they are worth more than gold, they mean friends and memories.
But my favorite pin has always been the Silver Jail Scene.
I really wanted one and never thought that pin would ever come my way. I posted on the boards about how I liked that pin quite a few times.
Out of the blue one day a LBE came to me. I was not expecting anything so I had no idea what it could be.
Dizpinlver (Jack and Deb Meeker) sent it to me just because they knew I wanted it. That was my first introduction to the wonderful pin traders I now call great friends. Peggie

I've made many wonderful trades and have quite a few pins that I can't look at without remembering the person I got them from...like the World of Disney Anniversary pin I got from Nat last July, or my first big trade for the White Castle Dangle. Oh yeah, that was from Nat, too! You've been a busy trader Nat!

I think the one that tops the list, though, is the Epcot 15th Anniversary USA Stamp pin that Vince traded to me at last year's Fall Foliage Meet. I didn't think I'd ever be able to finish that set, but Vince came all the way from MD to CT to come to our meet AND made me a pity trade on top of it.

Thank you Vince. Thank you Nat.

We've told this before, so we might as well tell it again. :)

Lauri and I got hooked on pin trading on our honeymoon, and afterwards eventually found the DIS. The summer of 2000 we found an appropriate Holy Grail -- the 2000 4th of July Fife and Drum pin. Thing is, the pin was individually numbered and the one we wanted was 1106 (for our wedding day, November 6).

We searched, we asked, and we posted all summer.

Finally, we were at WDW in that September for two of the Artist Choice weekends. We were hanging out in the Odyssey talking to people in the autograph line and to people who had finished the line when someone called us over. It was a DISer named Fran. Her DIS name is Dispincollector, but she hasn't posted in a while (if you're out there, Fran .. HI! ). She told us she had something we were looking for and might like, handed us a bag, and said to look inside.

It was the Fife and Drum #1106.

We offered her anything from our lanyards or our trader books (they were much lighter then) for trade, but she didn't want anything in trade, it was a gift.

We've never forgotten that. Thank you again, Fran.

Matt and Lauri....WOW......I have never seen that story before......so I am glad you posted it again....but what are the odds of finding that EXACT numbered pin......Fran is a pin angel for certain!

I think the one that stands out most in my head is a Pooh pin (#1855) I have. It is not my favorite Pooh pin by visual standards, but it is my most treasured Pooh pin. I am thinning out my collection and trading away many of my Pooh pins as well, but I will NEVER part with THAT Pooh!
I was at a Philly pin meet and Daber was there....he came over to me, said, "I saw this and thought of you" and gave it to me!
I cannot tell you how touched I was!!!!!!
I wore it for the rest of the WEEK before adding it to my Pooh collection.
Thank you AGAIN Daber!!!!!!

Like so many here I have a few specials. But two come to mind right off. One is my first trade and one is a special thank you from someone. Coincidentally they are both PoTC pins.

My very first trade with any Diser was for a PoTC pin I fell in love with when I first saw it. I had to have it - I needed it! I still have the Parrot Dangle , it is one of the few I have actually framed - thanks to Nat/NHMickey who took pity on a trader with some pretty humble pins to trade. Although my family still winces when I say I'm going to NH or RI or MD!

THe other is actually the last pin I recieved. I did what lots of us do here, I picked up pins for a fellow addict. We all do it but by way of thank you I was sent a wonderful pin I had been looking for but wasn't really seeing in books. When I did I never seemed to be able to close a trade. Well I did an extra trade with this DISer and when his envelope arrived it looked a little big and lumpy for what we traded - either that or MVMCP pins have gotten fatter.
When I opened it you could have dropped me with a whisper. Inside was a tag along pin - the Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean Event Logo Pin comlete with box!! So now Daber/Dave's pin sits right next to Nats'.

So to me Both Dave & Nat really represent what is right and good about trading.
