Does any fellow diser have a Nissan Sentra? If so, do you like or dislike it? We are getting ready to invest in a car for our teenager(s) and want to get any kind of feedback.

Hi, I have a 2006 Sentra, I love it!! Great gas mileage, runs great, rides smooth, great steering bought it brand new in 06 and have'nt had one problem with it.

Awesome! We're looking at a 2008 with less than 25,000 miles. Thanks for the input!

Ah, memories....my first car was a light blue Nissan Sentra....won't tell you how many years ago that was though! It was a great car, it took me on so many adventures!!! I miss that car...oh wait, maybe it's just that I miss being 20-something :lmao:

I had a 1999 Nissan Sentra GXE. It lasted me 10 years, 112,000 before the transmission went out and needed a new clutch. I loved my Nissan, except some of the things were somewhat poorly made - like the visors which were falling apart, and some of the parts inside were plastic. I did have the limited edition, so you would have thought it had higher quality finishings, but not. It ran well though, and was a good car, until the transmission went out. Great gas mileage and otherwise very reliable.

I so wanted to cash in on the "cash for clunkers" back when the government did that and get a Sentra. With my work supplier discount and cash for clunkers, I could have gotten a brand new car for under $5000!

The only bad thing I read about the Sentra when I was looking at it was be careful with the paint. It is very soft and scratches very easily.

Was yours so old it said NISSAN on the back and DATSUN on the front? Mine was!

we have an 04 Sentra and love it! Never had a problem with it!! Besides doing the regular services and replacing some belts that were wearing we’ve not had to do any repairs on it at all!! It is paid off now and my DH drives it everyday to and from work. Love it! We are planning to keep it till it eventually dies!!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I think my husband us pretty much sold on it!

I'll agree with this - we have an 07 and it has been great so far (knock on wood!) We test drove the Mazda 3 (too noisy, didn't drive as nicely - good pick up though), the Corolla (nice, but too boring:rotfl:) and the civic (again, very noisy and very stiff turning, steering) and ended up with the Sentra. I will say though that the inside dash area is made of very soft plastic and it has more than a few inside scratches and the exterior paint has some soft scratches along the door - nothing down to the metal or anything, but some scratches none the less.

I went from an SUV to a 2010 Nissan Sentra and I couldn't have made a better decision. It gets great gas mileage and it's also very roomy. It will be making it's first Disney trip this October, leaving from NJ. :cool1:

I actually was going to get a 2008/2009 (new) sentra last year. Loved the car as I am from a Nissan family (05 Quest and 99 Altima which was to be replaced).

I then found a used MAzda 3 hatchback (07) with under 20K miles on it for $14K.

The previous owner babied it and it still had the maintenance plan on it (free oil changes to 48K.)

I couldn't have been happier.

However, the Sentra is an awesome choice to get. I assume its a newer model, so you should be ok. I don' tlike the 97-99 versions... they look like eggs.

I have 1993 Nissian Sentra that has over 200,000 miles and going strong. I bought 2009 Nissian Sentra last year and gave mom my old one. Both Sentra is red LOL. The new sentra will make it first trip to WDW in September.

This is a huge long shot, BUT...we have a 2009 Nissan Sentra with 5,100 miles on it that we just decided to sell. My husband bought it new last August during cash for clunkers and has driven only 5k miles since then because he has a work vehicle.

The car is perfect- silver with grey cloth interior, just had the oil changed and has 9 years of warranty left. The warranty was extended from 3 years to 10 by Nissan right after we bought it as an added perk. Drives fantastic. Wonderful gas mileage. Plenty of backseat room for our DS11 and DD8 with a friend thrown in occasionally...big, clean trunk.

DH needs a pickup truck to haul stuff and always did, but last summer all the crew cab trucks were gone from our area due to the clunkers deal.

I say all this to share our opinion that Sentra's seem to run forever and would be a great teenager car-safe, reliable, etc...and to say we are eager to sell and get our truck this summer and would sure be happy to drive that Sentra all the way to Orlando to you from East Tn!!!:hippie: DH says to say we will email pictures to anyone interested!! lol

Just saying...:flower3:

I used to ahve a 1988 red Sentra. Gray vinyl seats and NO A/C (talk aobut hot!), stick shift. It didn;t even ahve a cigarette lighter, LOL! That was an option. :rotfl: That thing sure was good on gas, though. I averaged 40-42 MPG.

The new ones sure are a lot cuter than mine!

Yes I liked my Nissan Sentra.

Wow that Sentra brings back sooo many memories and was passed around the family. I purchased it used in '94 the first car that I purchased. I got married several years later and the husband purchased me a Yukon and he drove the Sentra. We divorced and my dad needed a car. So my dad drove it around for a few years. It sat on the ranch for a few years until my sis needed a car. She is ROUGH on cars. She killed it. She just didn't take care of it and ripped the muffler and exhaust system from under it backing into her drive way that had a lip on it. It sat in front of her house for a year or two. I finally had the CAN academy pickup it up in 2008 so I could use it as a tax right off.

We have had 2. We currently own an 2006 and a previously a 1996. The 1996 was totaled when the neighbor's teenager t-boned DH and DD. I was amazed how well that little Sentra protected them in that accident.

Our 2006 is going to college with dd in a few years. We would buy another if we needed another small car.

Thanks but my husband has to see, feel, touch and drive it before he even considers it. I would hate for you to waste your time. Maybe some other diser in Tenn. will take you up on it!

I just got rid of my 95 Nissan Sentra. It was a lemon from the day I bought it. I'd owned two Nissan's previously and didn't have a single problem with either of them. The Sentra? The stereo went out when it was a month old. A few months later the horn went out. The alternator went out when there was only 35,000 miles on it. It was nonstop problems. So, why did I drive it so long? I kept telling myself that SURELY this problem would be the last one. Last month, with 125,000 miles on it, the mechanic told me it had internal engine noises and needed replaced.

I will never own another Nissan...ever!!!

Editing to tag off another post: yes, the driver's side visor fell off...and I replaced the starter twice, and the ignition, and the clutch 3x, and bushings, and....you name it. I did major repairs every 8 - 12 months. Looking back, I should have gotten rid of it as soon as it was paid off. I would have been much better off with car payments.
