How big is it? Is it too small - or too much wasted space??
Just a laundry also - no bath fixtures...

we are reworking someof our plans as Ithink there is some wasted space I could better utalize and I am worried aboutmaking this space TOO small...
thanks for your 411

We have two. It is one room with the washer and a sink, then another with the dryer, freezer, and shelves for food. So it is like a pantry/laundry room. We use ours all the time. :)

Oh yes. My home is not even 3 yers old. When we design the house, we included a laundry room.

I just finished doing my Fall cleaning in it yesterday and it looks so nice. I have a washer & dryer in there, I also have a huge wash sink which I just love. Two nice shelf's and a window. It is so cute!

MsDisney what are the demension on that room???
I can'tdecide what size tomake my room -

our house is 50 years+ and we have an area in the basement with a sink, and a slab which my washer and dryer sit on, i have a wooden work bench and some cupboards. with some paint it's turned out really nice. :goodvibes

Mine's a standard 1st floor laundry.

My dream house would have one the size of a bedroom with lotsa storage space, a big table for folding/crafts, room for a freezer, sewing machine, ironing board, etc. LOL.

Mine is barely larger than the washer and dryer. I would love for it to be larger. My room is so small that you can't even turn around in there.

I don't have a room, but a laundry 'area' off my kitchen. I think it used to be a separate room but the people that lived here before us opened the two rooms up to make a larger kitchen. It has a counter top at the end of the kitchen that sort of divides that area. I put up a divider 'wall' that is just a screen of sorts made of lace curtains to wall the area off to hide it somewhat. I would rather it be totally separate, but you can't always get what you want. I also have some shelves there with canned goods etc on them. I would love a room big enough to allow for folding etc then maybe I would do it ;)
About a 10x8 should be big enough.. LOL.

Our laundry room is really small. It has an area for the washer (shelving above washer) and dryer (window over the dryer), and then there is a small area where I keep a clothing rack. It's like a rack like you see in stores that clothing is hung on as you try it on and decide you don't want it. I need it because my kids' clothes can't be put in the dryer. So everything is hung on hangers to dry there. There is another area on the other side of the room where we keep kitty litter (bagged) and extra clothing detergent and such.

If I could redo it though, I would make it twice as big, if not more. I'd get one of those laundry carts that are in laundromats (I would love to have one of those things) and a table to fold clothing along with a deep sink.

After I win this lottery though, I'll have it all. :rotfl:

I will have to ask dh when he gets home from work! I have no idea, I do not even know what an electric bill looks like!

lucky you! DH doesn't know what an electric bill looks like....

your laundry room sounds awesome!!

Ours is 7.5 x 13...we have the W/D alomg the 13' wall, next to them the sink, next to that is a 60" counter and upper and lower cabinet. A door to the backyard, and then along the other wall (across from w/d wa;;) all of our animal cages etc, backpacks storage etc. While I love having the back door, I wish I had a window over the sink, and we may add one. Also the drain in the floor is also under the sink, and I wish we had one on the other side of the room for when the kids take off their winter snowclothes so the drying rack would drain right into that floor area. We have hard wood tho, so tile would be better for that. We have a triple floodlight light for brightness so I can see stains etc., and for using the laundry sink for cleaning tha animals, cages etc. That is one thing I suggest no matter what the size room, great lighting and a sink/ I paint and am ALWAYS cleaning brushes etc in there. We did not do this, but wish we had...when we were having th cabinets installed, we should have had a custom 72" or taller one built for putting you vacuum cleaner, brooms etc in. Everything looks so much nice when put "behind doors". Our future plan is to install a hinged counter top where the animal cages are, one that folds flat against the wall when not in use, for crafts, etc. I use the current counter for folding laundry, holding laundry baskets, excess pantry items...and when we have a party we usually set up bar there, because of the indoor/outdoor access to the yard. We made a point of having our laundry room off the kitchen as I do not care for the gas smells from the garage. dirt etc., when trying to get clothes clean. So I feel like it is more of the house than an extension of the garage. Considering how much time I spend doing laundry, using that room, I don't think I culd ever give it up. When DH had a an out of state job offer this spring, we nosed around a bit, and NONE of the house had laundry rooms...just laundry closets or in the garages. While we would have adjusted, it really jumped out at me how much I love ours.

We have a 9x12 room that is a pantry and a laundry room. Our machines share the space with the groceries.

nope, unless you count the Dolphins laundry room

Mine is essentially a hallway between the garage and house. It is just long enough to house the washer, dryer, and utility sink along one wall with room for the dog's crate between them. Perfect fit. I have built in cupboards above all of that. On the other side the wall is flat to the door, so I have coathooks and a whiteboard for messages and lists. I would build another laundry room the exact same way. We have a large bar in the kitchen I do my folding on where I can see the tv.

Yes. I love having a separate room for laundry. It's a small room, just big enough for the washer, dryer and 2 people...with a shelf and two cabinets for everything. Probably about 6 x 8 feet.

Mine is in an unfinished section of the basement. It's about 13 x10. In addition to the washer and dryer, we have a laundry tub, DH's work bench and about 60" of pine "utility" shelving. We use the shelves for paints and paint supplies, scraps of flooring, power tools, etc.

I'm hoping to move the laundry room upstairs, between the garage and the kitchen as part of an upcoming remodel. In that case, it would shrink in size to about 8' x 12' It would serve as the laundry room and kinda like a "family entry" with coat hooks, back pack cubbies, etc., but no longer contain DH's junk.

Yes we have one. Our house is 12 years old and all one level. The laundry room has room for a large washer/dryer, sink, laundry hamper and 4 overhead cabinets over the machines. I don't know the dimensions, but if open a full size ironing board in there it is tight. I also keep the leaf to my dining room table in there as well as the vacuum cleaner.

We moved our laundry room upstairs to a small bedroom. we have a washer and dryer, closet, shelves, cabinets, counter and a sink. We also have a pass through from my bedroom for dirty clothes. love it!

Thanks everyone for your input!
I have a 7x16 space that I need to figure out how I want to work it -
when they drew up the plans they put ONE large room that is a half bath with the laundry in the closet!
We ok'd the plans knowing full well that it would be changed!
Now that the hall wall is framed(from the garage to the kitchen) and I can "see" the space I have to work with!

I "think" i want a laundry room with a big Utility base on the left corner (that is the big cabinet that holds brroms, mops, etc) the washer dryer (I want front loading so I can fold right on top of them) with open shelves on the walls for detergent, etcc... and on the right I just want shelves large enough to hold laundry baskets - 5 going up - one for each member of the family.

so I am thinkging that 5 1/2 deep should be adequate! and maybe 10" wide :confused3 that would leave 5 1/2 x 6 for the bathroom :confused3
