Do you have a house cleaner?

Our guy charges $15/hour, which is a great deal. We have him out for 3 hours twice per month, so $90. Some of the best $90 we spend every month. Between work and church and an almost 2-year old it is tough for us to keep up with everything ourselves, with bad backs/shoulders/necks between us.

I recently "hired" my mom to come and straighten up once a week or at least once every 2 weeks for $100 a month. I "hired" my sister for $100 and my high school niece $50 to come over once a month.

My sister deep cleans (she's the invisable cleaning fairy) and my niece watches my 5 kids while me and my husband get out for a much needed date night.

I like that I fully trust my mom and sister, my sister is there to "supervise" if need be, and my niece gets some pocket money. My mom and my sis seem to like the pocket money too and me and my husband are LOVING our date night once a month.

For me- I get a clean house for $250 a month AND babysitting for 5 kids? Sounds good to me. They come at their convenience so it doesn't interfere with their full time jobs or family life.

I told them just to do whatever they see needs to be done to keep me from going looney (I get very anxious with a dirty house. I may have 5 kids but I do not want my house to look like it).

My mom runs the dishes and laundry, wipes counters and table, vacuums (aka surface stuff).

My sister does the deep cleaning (wiping cabinet faces, mirrors, tubs, toilets, cleaning out the fridge, wiping base boards, light fixtures, fan blades... ).

My house is 2800 sq ft, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms... however they don't do my upstairs bedroom or craftroom (just the bathroom up there) and not my home gym... but the other 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen/eating area, and foyer/halls are heavy use so they have their work cut out for them.

They just make piles of the "clutter" if I haven't got to it before they come over. Not that they refuse to clean it... they just don't know where it goes (aka papers left on kitchen counter, kids toys (which is whose), etc.).

I don't have a ton of money but I have even less time so having them help me is a dream come true. I used to clean huge beach houses on the weekends (about 10 years ago) so I know how to clean... just so stinking busy these days!!!

Yes, i need to know where you all live. I live in augusta, ga; which is not a high cost of living area but our cleaning guy charges $125 every other week. No laundry but does change all bedding. And does pretty much everything else you all said. He also does little special things, like he always arranges my little girls stuff animals in a really cute way. She loves coming home to see what he has done. He does an awesome job, so it's well worth it for me.

We've had a house cleaner for the last 10 years. She charges $70 every two weeks but she doesn't clean the entire house. Unfortunately we're starting to have issues with stuff not getting cleaned. She is awesome but her crew is missing stuff. I started looking into other options and the lowest I'm finding is $120 every two weeks to do the same thing.

Anyway, the thing I've heard her complain about over the years is how people treat her like she is a servent. Also, she can tell some wicked stories about cleaning some really gross houses. She always inspects houses prior to accepting a job but she said sometimes people fool her and when she returns to clean the house looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months. That would be the thing I would worry about. Also she has issues with some people having so much clutter she can't find the house to clean it. She spends a lot of time making piles of "stuff."
