Where did you buy it? Was it expensive? What does it look like? I went rug shopping today for the first time in a long time and there are so many styles and colors, I loved them all. We have been in this house for about 7 months, downstairs is all hardwoods and I am finally getting around to buying rugs. I brought home 2 today but will be returning one tomorrow. This was a local rug store that makes their own rugs. I also looked at Home Depot tonight and they have some cute ones for good prices. I realize that tastes and styles differ but I always get good ideas from this board. Thanks!

Oh yes! I highly recommend natural fibers/wool. Much easier to clean than polyester like from Home Depot. you can get excellent deals on Overstock.com, with less than $3.00 shipping, I believe. I have bought from them, love my rug!! I prefer Transitional designs.

This makes me feel better because the one I bought is wool.....the sales people kept telling me wool would be easier to clean. But then I saw the ones at HD that cost so much less and I had buyers remorse! The one I bought for my family room is an 8x12 traditional and I am still looking for a 5x8 for the foyer, that one I want to be more transitional/contemporary. But they will need to coordinate because its an open floor plan. I'll have to check out Overstock-thanks:goodvibes

One year my DH got a bonus and we splurged on two large Oriental rugs. They were quite expensive but have held up beautifully.

The ones we'd purchased from Home Depot or Lowes previously ended up curling up at the corners over time and we had to throw them out since they were a tripping hazard.

Good, that makes me feel better about my purchase as well. I think mine will also hold up well and it is gorgeous. :thumbsup2

I second the wool rugs from Overstock. It's a little unnerving buying them without seeing them in person as colors on a monitor can be a little different than the real thing, so I look for ones with at least a few reviews.

I got a gorgeous wool 8'x10' rug for my family room from Overstock for about $200. I'm currently looking for one for my living room.

They have codes all the time and the rugs go on 15% off their already great prices from time to time.

I like busier oriental designs as we have two cats, a dog and two kids, and a husband who doesn't always remember to take off his shoes. I have a rug we paid a fortune for with a cream background before we found Overstock, and I won't make that mistake again. It was beautiful new, but now I'm replacing it due to pet vomit stains (why do they put dye in cat food?).

We have that issue with 2 cats as well so my rug background is mostly BLACK:lmao: and it is a busy pattern too. I started a no eating in the family room rule but everytime I turn around someone is eating or drinking near the rug:faint: I still have this rug "on approval" for a few more days and then if I purchase it I have 30 days to return. Thanks, this is good advice!
