Do you have a favorite DD or DS?

I think every parent with more than one child has one the "connect" with more than the others. That doesn't mean they are a "favorite". DW definitely connects more with DS#1 and I connect more with DS#2. How you feel and how you behave are two different things.

I only have one son, so I can't speak about having a favorite. But my sister is definitely the favorite. I started calling her "Raymond". Now my mother actually calls her Raymond too!

it changes every monent - depending on which one I am with ;)
and what witty comment they make :rotfl:
and how much they are annoying me

You know, when I was a kid I would have told you my sister K--- was mom's favorite and my sister W---- was my dad's. I would have felt somewhat left out except I always felt I was my beloved Grandma's favorite, lol. After dad died and mom remarried our family got much larger and then we all grew up.

As an adult I realize none of us are a 'favorite' with either parent. Some personalities just mesh better with them but they are pretty close to all of us. Enough so that I would have a hard time picking out a 'favorite' with either one.

Oh, and as the mother of only one child that I love deeply and am very close to, I will tell you that there have been days that she has NOT been my favorite without any competition, lol.

What a question! Have you been reading "Sophie's Choice" or something?

No, no favorite. DS14 is a lot like me in some ways, so there is a connection. DD13 is a lot like me in totally other ways, so there is a connection. DD10 is the baby and has always been cute as a button (she's the least like me, but there's certainly nothing wrong with that!)

I always tell them that each was special from birth. DS14's birth was special because he was our first child. DD13's birth was special because I wanted a girl so badly. And DD10's birth was special because it was a "normal" birth after two prior scheduled c-sections.

I have terrific kids!!!

My favorite is the one who isn't crabbing at me! Some days, I have NO favorite!

Seriously, there are so many different facets to a child, you can appreciate them in so many different ways. For example, DD10 is a thin, blonde dancer--we're still scratching our heads, I have a distinct recollection of giving birth to her, but let me assure you, I'm not thin or blonde, and don't dance! OTOH, she's also very smart, takes karate, loves forensics, and the bus bully is afraid of her, so she's probably my kid after all!

Her two siblings have their own good and not so good points--DS8 is very sensitive, which can be good or can be a PITA--it's just the way he is! And DD2 is adorable, but, well, 2!

We have another boy on the way. The only one bummed about that is DS, who thinks he won't be so special anymore. But he's my special "Buzz", nobody else can be my special "Buzz".

I know my mom and my MIL both have favorites among their kids. My mother doesn't favor any grandkids (of course, they're all mine, less of an issue). MIL does, but she favors whichever one is the golden child of the moment--for years it was one niece, then another, now it's DD because she's in the gifted program. Which is nice, but we loved her when she was bald and toothless--being smart is just icing on the cake. It gets really annoying even when it's your kid being favored (are my nieces now chopped liver?).

I don't have a favorite, but I have a lot of guilty feelings over if I am spreading my time evenly between the two kids. My DS is 5 and my DD is 16 months. She is a huge daredevil, prone to accidents and into everything! DS was never like that. So I feel like I have to chase her around the house all the time. I can't play a game with my son unless she's taking a nap or in bed for the night because she can't just sit and play on her own without doing something that makes my heart stop. I keep telling myself, just a little longer until she can be a little more on her own...but it is still hard. DH and I try to take him places sometimes and leave her at home with one of us so he can get some good quality time on his own.
