My DH, 9 yo DD, 4 yo DD, and I will be visiting WDW in June. On our past trip in October 2000, we used a paper chain to countdown to the big day. I would like to try something a bit different.

Do any of you have a special way to countdown that my girls would enjoy?

Thank you!

I saw in someone's signature a picture of mickey heads with velcro, they pulled one off the board each day.

I was going to suggest a paper chain, but you've already done that.

What about buying a small chalkboard (~$1 at Michaels/Walmart), paint the frame and add Mickey heads to the corners/boarders and each day write the number of days left until your trip.

You could make a calander and cross off a square each day until the day of your trip.

You could make a paper chain that instead of loops is Mickey Heads (if you don't want to make so many you can get paint color samples from ome Depot and cut them out) that can be removed from the chain each day.

Take a jar and cut x amount of pieces of paper (one for each countdown day) and write a piece of Disney Trivia, a Disney movie to watch that day, a simple Disney meal to make, or a free activity that the girls could lable ie: Each chose 1 post card to send home from the park or together choose 1 charcater to meet.

HTH.

Our favorite countdown was for our 2002 trip. We purchased a sheet of white posterboard and picked up Mickey head paint samples (one for each day) from Home Depot. I also picked up the scrapbooking people (the paper dolls you can decorate), letter stickers and a Disney castle sticker from Hobby Lobby. On the top left of the poster we placed the castle sticker and the words "How many days until Disney?" Then, DD wrote out each number (from 80 to 1, yes we were obsessed) to fill up the poster. We decorated the people to represent each family member and placed them at the end of the countdown with the words "Disney World here we come!" Each morning DD would use a Mickey head to cover the previous day. She was 3 at the time and had loads of fun making this one. When we returned from the trip, I used the people as the opening page of our vacation scrapbook.
