Do you have a cell phone?

i got my first at 10.
I now have the pantech, duo which sucks

thanks guys

1 more thing my mom said she might get me a cell phone if I show signs of maturing, so any ideas of what all I could do. I've been doing stuff like cleaning my room without being asked, taking my dishes to the sink and stuff like that.

No problem (: We can't really give you tips on how to mature. It's kinda your
job to do that. It's you. Nobody can change who you are,
like how to do something. So, if you think about it, we can't do anything.

I got mine when i was going into 6th grade because I started taking the bus and stuff and if i ever missed the bus or had to stay after i needed something to call my parents with hehehe!

i got mine on my 13th birthday
i carry it everywhere i go

if you want to convince your parents to get one for you
do random chores without being asked
make good grades
stay out of trouble
thats what i did and i finally got mine! :]

I had a firefly phone when i was 8...but it only can call home and the police...so that doesn't really count lol. I got the razor when I was ten but i didn't have any text messaging. I have the iPhone now and i'm 12 almost 13.

I have an ATT Quickfire, and it's my baby.

I got my first phone at 12, but it's only because I was in field hockey. My buses would always be late and my mom would wait in the parking lot for hours with other parents. She then gave me a phone and said, call me when you're 5 minutes away.

IMO, if you're not in any extra curricular activites or a personal problem where you'll be away from your parents from hours upon hours, you have no business having a phone.

I got mine a few weeks before my 13th birthday.
It was a tracfone. My parents only got it because I was going so many places for school and clubs.
Naturally I got a little annoyed when my brothers got his before that age. Then again he's always gone for school things too, and my mom was worried and he's very mature. We both hardly text or talk really.
I think if you are in clubs or something it's fine, but other than that it's really not necessary.

Good Luck!

I got my first one when I was 11
I was a bit unmature to have one and went over my minutes...
I would text my friends all the time and was pretty lame with it
I will be 15 in a month now and I now only use it to text and it works pretty well for me
I guess just show your parents that you are mature and can handle it and you may get one
Helping around the house, keeping your grades up etc. would be a good start

I can't believe some of ya'lls parents are buying you an iPhone at age 12! Those are expensive and have crappy warranties, so wow.

That's so so young!

I had a really cheap phone when I was about 11. I shared it with my brother, and whenver we went somewhere where we could get lost or something we used it. Or when I went on a trip to Six Flags with my school or something I would take it. Its good to have, I'd let you have one ;) Im so glad I have a waaay better phone now though lol.

I didn't get a phone until I was 15 and even then it was REALLY basic. I had to prove that I wouldn't kill it before I was allowed to get anything better.

Now I've got a blue, LG Chocolate 3.

I got mines at the age of 14, it was very funny..... I even not lived a single day without my cellphone. I just love cellphones :goodvibes

Actually it was pretty cheap for the iPhone and if it drops and brakes I get a new one for no charge so it has a great waranty(sp?).

And it's not young to get a phone. I NEED a phone because I stay after school almost every day of the week and i need to call my mom to tell me when she should pick me up and where, etc.

I got mine before JHS, because I take the bus (so, in case I missed it after school, or was going to stay after).

Currently, I have the Motorola Razr (have had it since May '07). It's pretty good, nice sound quality, picture/camera, nice and small.

I got my first cell phone when I was 10, and the only reason why I even got one was because I was just entering a new school and was involved in after school activites.

Yeah I mean $200-300 is so cheap for a phone..
and my sister has the iPhone, the warranty sucks.

Cheapest iphone here is 199.
And the plan SUCKS, it's 60 bucks a month. That only comes with 72 texts.
I hate Rogers.

anyways, I don't believe any 12 year old needs a phone. Yes, maybe they do need to call home, but there are pay phones at a school right? Your friend probably has a phone. In my case my parents were usually somewhere where I could contact them, so I took the only phone we had, the family phone.
An expensive phone, like an Iphone, with text, internet, gps, etc, is really not needed for a 12 year old.

I got my first phone at 15, almost 16. My parents pay for the voice, and I pay for the texting (and internet, but Id on't use it). Basically, my life hasn't really changed since. I don't text too much, I mean other than to my bestest bud (who was my boyfriend lol) and I n ever use the net.

It's expensive when you could get a perfectly fine phone (with purchase of contract) for 10 bucks.

If you ever have to use the warranty, you'll figure out that it sucks. Trust me.

& you might need a phone, but you don't need an iPhone.

I actually just wanted another razor, but my grandma got me the iPhone. I would have just as well excepted a cheaper phone.
