Do you have a burial plot?

My grandpa (who's 96) told my mom.. that the family has rights to plots in the town cemetery where he lives.. his parents are there, grandma's parents are there... my mom told me.. that is where she and my dad want to be.

I don't know that these plots were ever bought. I'm really not sure. But.. apparently.. I have "rights" to a family plot in a tiny run down town, that is named after my family.

Yes, I own 2, 1 for me and 1 for DH. My grandmother bought 2 when my grandfather died in 1979 and my mom bought 2 at the same time. Mom signed mine over to me several years ago and there happened to be 1 more right next to mine, so I bought it for DH.

My body (whatever is left after organ donation) will spend its time turning to ash where it has always been, with my family (between my mom and DH ), but hopefully my spirit will be in heaven.

Yes. At age 41, my 1st husband died suddenly. I impulsively/emotionally purchased burial sites for him & myself, adjoining my recently deceased father's (and mom's future) plots.

Fast-forward 15 years: I remarried and now live 1,000 miles away. Current DH & myself have made it known we want cremation, with our ashes scattered in various black humor ways.

And my burial plot in Michigan is up for grabs for anyone interested.

Nope. I really don't care what happens to my body. I won't be using it anymore but I did tell DH to save the money and just cremate. My in-laws refuse to tell us what they want so I told them that I would put them in the cheap cardboard box and then burn them. It was actually pretty funny. Hey if you don't tell us your wishes how can we fulfill them?

I have a rather twisted view of it all anyway. One of my odd jobs right now is picking up bodies from hospitals, nursing homes, etc for a funeral home. It's fun to drive the hearse.

My DH's family (which is huge) in Northeast CT have their own burial grounds. They maintain it. Only family buried there. Jan 2001, DH's brother dropped dead @50yo. My DSIL was making all the arrangements and as she was deciding on the "stone"...the stone people told her the more names on the stone the cheaper it will be. This is a HUGE stone. So DH & I agreed to have our names put on the stone. We had the funeral for DH's bro and the stone co said they would put the stone up as soon as it was ready.

FF Nov 2001, my FIL dies. We all attend the funeral and head over to the burial grounds and there is the "new" stone all installed. My 2 DS' freak out...and quitely frankly DH & I had forgotten about the stone...but we had our names put on the stone as well...needless to say between the death of their grandfather and seeing DH & my name on this stone was pretty upsetting for my then 14&18yo DSons. Oh well....

So yes, for us we have our PLOT and our STONE.

Yes, we have ours next to my family in a small cemetary overlooking the lake in the town our summer home is in. I'm really glad we bought it years ago because there are no plots available anymore.

No, I'll be cremated. I told my kids that when I die, and am creamated, I want them to deposit at least some of my ashes at WDW.

Nope. My wife and I have instructed each other to go with the lowest cost disposal method, which is probably cremation.

My late DH was cremated - and the majority of his ashes were buried in a military cemetery.. (He was a Korean war veteran.) I will be cremated as well - and as his wife, I'm entitled to have the majority of my ashes buried on top of his - free of charge..

Nope. I will be cremated and I really don't care where my ashes go (although a bit on Wrigley Field and somewhere in Disneyland would be nice). I hate cemeteries.

I want to be buried in our family cemetary of sorts. We have people buried all over that place. All I can say is that I wish it were cheaper and I'd buy now. I know it is cheaper to buy now than later, however.

My grandparents, aunt and uncle, great-grandma, and a friend are all in the bury patch and I want to be there, too.

I took my husband there a few times and told him my wishes. I want him there with me too. He couldn't care less where he gets buried so that made it easy.

I also want my full name on my stone. Maiden and married, so that in years ahead, if anyone does some family histories, they can see that I am related to several others in the bury patch.

When I ordered the 3 for my family in Dec, they offered to go ahead and order one for me and Dh, but the thought is so disturbing, I just couldn't do it.

Dh is retired military and we have a space reserved in the military veterans cemetery here. As his wife I can be buried there too with him so we are all set when the time comes.

yes, i purchased my own several years ago when my great grandma died. the place was just so beautiful and peaceful land i have so much family there. i knew it was the right place for me so i bought straight from a map the next day. last year another family member passed, i went to the funeral. the next day i returned to the graveyard and actually counted out and found my plot on the map. i looked down at it and spent a few minutes there. it was odd feeling but very comfortable to have this done. i do not know / sometimes wonder about my own demise. i do know and have control over where it will all end. it was a good feeling. wasn't scary at all. felt peaceful and sort of like , okay , now that 's done.

I figure I'll be spread on the beach somewhere, I suspect I will be with Casey, our dog, I just spread her ashes in the surf at her favorite chase the stick in the surf spot. (and I figure a small part will get placed somewhere in a disney park, or all of them if my daughter has anything to do with it.
